Has your transmission oil been changed as yet?

While I have the V6 model, I can honestly say my transmission became VERY quiet after I changed the tranny fluid. Easy and inexpensive to do.

Perhaps also check to make sure yours is not over or under filled.

One last thought is the oil filter. Some of these kia/hyundai engines will make terrible noise and racket if a comparable kia filter is not used. My Hyndai Sonata was very filter sensitive, yet my Elantra was not.

Hope you get this solved!

The transmission fluid was done about 10 km ago, and I use the KIA oil filter. I'll have a look at the level but the dealer did the change so should be ok (...).

Default How quiet is your Rondo at a stop sign?

Well I have my 2009 Rondo with 20,000 miles back from the dealer.
And its still making the same "buzzing" noise at idle.
So now I'm curious, would this noise be considered normal?
I know it didn't do it for the first two months of ownership.
This buzzing noise is intermittent but quite noticeable .
It will disappear immediately at idle when you shift from drive to neutral.
Shifting back to drive again won't necessarily bring the noise back though sometimes it will after a bit.

The dealer said it was a bad bearing in the a/c compressor and ordered a new compressor.
A week and a half later when I dropped the car off for service I told the service writer that we should make sure we are talking about the same noise because it "buzzes" with or with out the air running.
The service writer cut me short by saying that the compressor is turning all the time and it doesn't matter.
Well O.K.

$900 dollars worth of compressor and Freon under warranty later and it is still "buzzing".
If it is normal to the 2.4 Rondo then hey my a/c is a bit colder and I can live with the noise. But I have a feeling that when I go back to the dealer there is a good chance he is going to do the CYA and tell me that it IS normal. even if it isn't.
Anyone else s Rondo do this?

Opinions?
Thanks everyone

does the buzzing change at all when the blower fan speed is changed? I once had a piece of cellophane blowing around in the air duct. Another car I had used to allow leaves into the blower assembly and would kinda make a buzzing sound too till cleaned out.

It will make the noise intermittently with the blower off.
And sometimes at idle the noise will stop abruptly without me doing anything.

I heard the noise, but not in mine Rondo (MSUStev0 - or something like that). When I met him and we drove his car - there was such noise on stop. It would appear when slowing down to stop, and would be there as long as you change gear. A/C had nothing to do with that.
It was coming from tranny.

I will find the thread it was already discussed and merged them. You could find more info there.

BUT, not this sound is NOT normal. My Rondo is completely quiet. I do not hear anything when at stop.

Thanks It's good to know I am not alone with this sound.
I am not a mechanical genius ,but do know my way around the wrenches.
I would be VERY surprised if it was a heat shield.
It is more of a whirring noise on my Rondo that does seem to be transmission related.

I don't hear any noise either but I noticed the idle is a little high at a stoplight then it comes down slowly to its normal RPM. I think it does that starting from cold until fully warmed up as I recalled.

Could the infamous noise come from the transmission dipstick rattling in the casing???

This what I heard (read previous posts) had place when engine was for sure hot and there is no way it would be oil dipstick... This is something coming from transmission. It sounds like Chrysler solenoid - if you know what I am talking about.
