Sounds like the same noise and pattern that I have. PLP inserted the link from the thread I started. The dealer seems to think it is an accessory drive/bearing making the noise. I suspect it is in the transmission however since the noise goes away once the car stops moving, even in drive, it is hard to diagnose. there hasn't been any change in state since my last post.

I'd be interested in what you dealer has to say sbout the noise.

I should probably mention that the car is only a week old, and is easily the quietest car I've ever owned (which is probably why the noise is bothering me!)

Thanks!
Could you update for the sound? Read my posts and tell me if this is that sound, if so I would merge the posts.

I have the buzzing when slowing down and will tell the dealer in January when i am in, but suspect they will do nothing and say it is normal. It does not affect the performance of the vehicle at all in my opinion.

It is much less irritating then the bloody wind whistling noise that comes from my driver side door, which the dealer cannot fix.

Considering the season, I'm pretty sure it is not related, but I have had 2 Rondos w/ I4 engines that both had A/C compressor bearing issues.

Dealer replaced - in warranty.

Perhaps the buzzing is your neighbors talking about what a cool looking car that is?

As requested, an update... The sound comes and goes, and I haven't really been able to discern much of a pattern, other than the fact that it completely stops when the car does. I have had periods a few hours where it is completely gone, and then it comes back for no obvious reason. Also, it doesn't seem to be related to the speed I have been driving at. I took the dealer for a brief drive in the car yesterday, and he couldn't hear anything at all until I pointed out the noise to him. His response - not surprisingly - was that it was normal engine noise. I guess I would be willing to accept this if it was a consistent noise, but it is the fact it comes and goes that bothers me slightly. Also, the Rondo is such a quiet car any noise is disappointing and a little annoying. Of course, my wife is now starting to think I am going slightly insane - she can barely hear it and is coming to the conclusion that I am hearing things...

The car is due for its first service in April, so I will probably just keep an ear on things until then, and maybe ask them to check the heat shields and transmission to see if anything is amiss. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Given the inconsistency (and very low level) of the, I am not sure what else to do. Other than this, I am very happy with the car - to my increasing surprise, I think I like it more than my Toyota Verso (which is a GREAT car).

So, finally went to my local Kia Service Centre and got them to have a listen. Given how subtle the noise is, I was really impressed by the amount of time they took trying to work out where it is coming from (they spend about an hour listening, poking, driving etc). Anyway, after a lot of discussion and work poking around, hoisting up the car, removing the cooling fan belt and checking all the pulleys etc they concluded that... it is almost certainly just normal car noise. I have no way of really knowing if this is true, but given how soft the sound I am willing to accept that this may be true. Having said this, given the care NEVER makes the noise from a cold start, and that it only starts to appear when the car is warm, I remain a little sceptical but at least they tried.

Anyway, have decided to live with it for the time being, but will update this post if anything changes.

Mine sometimes makes a buzzing when pulling into my garage after driving. Putting into nuetral or park, noise quits. Sounds just like CHRYSLER built O.D.tranaxles from the '90's on. ''Normal solenoid'' noise was the answer/reason on those. Rondo makes this noise at less volumn, less frequently & it doesn't really bother me since it's probably just hot solenoids.

Mines still doing it, pattern, after cruising for a while I notice it when slowing down or at stop. Stops immediately when shifted into neutral, goes away if you idle in drive for 30 seconds or more.
