Spring came to MI, so it is the right time to start some spring cleaning...
I was thinking where I should start this thread...
garage? off topic??
well, since I own Rondo, I believe Rondo/Carens forum is fine.
So, the question is - do you wax your car, if so what do you use. Or maybe this way - what do you suggest to use.
I could not find any definite answer what type of wax I should use for my silver Rondo. I decided to buy Meguiar’s NXT Generation® Car Wash and NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0.
I talked to some friend of mine (he owns some black Lexus, around 10yrs old) and he said that some cars do better with some waxes, while some other do not work so well...
So do we have anyone here who knows this topic well?
I am pretty satisfied with this product I use. It is easy to polish/buff and stays several weeks (depends on weather). Although, on silver you can't really say how shiny it is...
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the products on the market. Specially name brands.
I've been using Meguires Classic Gold for the last two or three years. Have no reason to change. Quick and easy. Generally wax the car three times a year. Also use Maguires car wash. Not sure of the exact name. Looks purple.
My Rondo is silver. My last three cars were too.
I stopped using stuff on my tires long ago. Found that once you start, the rubber tends to turn kind of brownish, and you have to keep re-applying.
Also spray Silicone on a rag, and wipe on all the rubber door seals. Clean the dash when I do the windows. Have not found any difference between products. Regular or for 'automotive use'.
I have been using Zaino products for years. You won't find it locally, must order it over the internet. A good job takes a lot of time, but the full line of products are excellent. First, a wash product for the vehicle. Then, for new vehicles or after many months of neglect, a clay bar to remove small particles. Third is a polish lock that wipes on before the wax. Then the wax which is a liquid, dries to a fine haze and wipes off easily. My 2003 truck has only been waxed twice. Just did the new Rondo a few weeks ago and I probably won't wax it again for a few yrs.
Snow foam
wash with Dodo Sour Power
Rinse
Clay
Wash again
Rinse
Dry with Dodo Supernatural Drying Towel
Dodo Lime Prime Lite to cleanse the paintwork
3 layers of Dodo Supernatural Wax 1 every 24hrs.
You will be amazed at the finish on Silver and yes I have a Silver Carens
Does anyone know how long you should wait before waxing a brand new Rondo?
hmm, I would say just when it gets dry (after washing)
OK, I know what you mean.
As far as I know there is no "drying time" for factory cars. It applies only to repainted parts in body shops. Therefore, you can wax it right now. Well, it might be too dark now
Do it in warm day, but not sunny - unless you have some shadowed place.
I just used a product that was real nice. real nice. "Ice Synthetic Polish" by turtle wax. About $17 at the store but it goes on with no residue and it shines up the black plastic nicely. Went on easy, and polished up easy. We'll see how long it will hold up to the weather.

It's not wax, and it's definitely not cheap, but I've had good result with Glare polish. (Actually, I use the Honda-branded version, "Honda Pro Glare" because it's cheaper, but it's the same stuff.)
Considering that most have been sitting on a lot after a long boat ride and the paint and clearcoat should be as dry as they will ever get.
That may well have been a very, very long time in my case. Signs? Green deposit on a few places where the dealer didn't clean it thouroughly enough (back hinges), and also on the front side blinkers (green deposit inside the plastic joint). Other giveaways : partially discolored/rusty brake calipers; and ik looks like they even replaced the window washer spray nozzles - why, I don't know. Lastly, I noticed that the inside of the front right light is slightly fogged - not from damp, but from being exposed to light - so I'm assuming this is the side that has been in the sun while kept on the parking lot.
