I believe the reason why your tire pressure was so high is because the dealer did not do a proper PDI. Kia ships their car with around 42/44 psi to prevent out of round issues.
On the Kia Global info web site found the following that support this. "For shipping purposes, tire pressures are set higher than specifications at the factory. To prevent customer complaints about harsh ride, vibrations, tire wear, etc., pressures must be adjusted to specifications, as shown on label in the door jamb during the PDI process and (if time elapsed) checked again at the time of delivery."
