I think you should post the name of the dealer so that anyone else in B.C. can avoid this dealer like the plague. You got taken to the cleaners. Conwelpic said that there is 0% financing right now and you are paying $878 in financing charges. What is with that?

The freight amount is suppose to cover the delivery charges - $1,650!

Post the name and encourage people not to visit this dealer.

I paid no admin fees, but it was a cash deal and I told them there should be none. It was invoiced and that's it.

I had 97km on my vehicle when I picked it up, but it was the same vehicle I test drove and I had put on about 50km test driving it, so I wouldn't say 190km would be unreasonable.
My salesman says for test drives, he picks vehicles in sequence so they don't accumulate too many kms. I had no restriction on the test drive, he just gave me the keys and said take all the time you need!

On the contract, I did pay $1450 for all the admin fees, document fees......but that's not included in the $29,750. And to my best knowledge I didn't ask for any extra accessories or warrenty nor did they offer me any. I just got the Rondo EX-V6 Luxury, nothing more. So what I paid for the car is $29,750+$3570(GST & PST)+$1450(Admin and all the other fees)+$50.50(contract registration fee)+$878(cost of borrowing)=$35698.5

So if their own website listed the pirce is $26,095 + $1,650, and they charged me $29,750. That's unfair.

In my last call to the sales, he said he will explain the detail to me on the coming Tuesday. I will listen to him and see what's next.

Thanks for all the advices. More advices are welcomed.

I now learnt that I should really do my homework before I buy any cars....
Let us know you outcome on Tuesday (tomorrow), if they don't apologize and give you some serious refund I would report them to Kia Canada (do it anyway no matter what the outcome) and the Better Business Bureau and anyone else you can think of, maybe a consumer division of the provincial government.
Also tell them you've reported this on a forum and this could cost them a lot of lost sales - hit them in the pocketbook! Also talk to the dealer principal, regardless of what the salesman told you, by the way who approved the deal? Usually it has to be okayed by a manager, if the dealer is of any size - he should be raked over the coals to, if thats the case.

$50.50 contract registration - what is this?

this is posted on their website, use their own tools against them!

2008 Kia Rondo
3 free lease payments
or
0% purchase financing
for up to 48 months

My dealer treated me so well , we don't need these kind of dealers/salesman - and you wonder why car salesmen get such a bad name

There are lots of deals on right now, so I find it surprising that they hit you with extra, fictional charges. If you'd like to discuss this further, contact me and we'll talk.

Good Luck
I also used CarCost Canada, so you know what you are up against.

Thanks for offering to help vankia08, let us know what you find out. Glad we have a forum member that purchased from the same dealer.

Finally resolved this issue.

Can't wait until Tuesday, so I went to the dealer today to complaint about the deal. At first, the sales still maintained that the extra $2000 charge was "import fee" . Of course I wouldn't believe him this time after all the research I've done last night. I insisted and want to talk to the manager. The sales then went talk to the manager by himself. After about 20 minutes, he came back and said there might have been something missed up in the price. I then were told to talk to the finacial department and explain the situation to the financial manager.

It took me about half hour to make the financial manager to change the contract. I ended up paying $1350 less for the car before tax and fees. Why not $2000 less? Guess what, they told me my car has tinted windows ($500)and $150 for painted gray. I were never told the car has those extra options. We call the sales in and ask him, he just said everybody want the tinted windows, so I didn't tell you......Anyway, didn't feel like arguing with him anymore. I like the grey and the tinted window so just keep them. Went on to change the $1450 (admin and other fees). It turned out that in the $1450, $750 were finacing charge that were paid to the dealer for giving me 84 months finacing. No one told me there were $750 charge on getting the 84 months finacing. So I cancelled the 84 months plan and chosed the 60 months plan with no extra charges. Remember the $878 financing charges? It turned out was the interest to the bank for borrowing the money. That I know I have to pay. Their admin fee were $495. I tried to low it to $300, no luck.

So in the end I got about $2000 back from the dealer.
Here is what I paid for the car before tax after the adjustment

MRSP $26095+Transport and PDI $1650+tinted windows $500+painted grey $150 + admin & A/C tax and other fees $715 + contract registration fee $50.50 = $29160.5

Am I happy now? Not really. It wasted me 3 hours and I were upset about it for the last two days . But in the end I did get some money back and the sales did appologize. And the price error did seem like a communication mismatch between managers, sales and financial department, not a deliberate scam So I think I'll just put it a end.

The car sales sould be far more detailed when he sell a car. He should at least tell you the extra options he is selling you and also the extra financial fee of borrowing money for longer term. And he should've never attempt to say the price error are " Import Fee".

Here I need to thank Conwelpic, Yorkanuck and Narvo. Your help are highly appreciated. Thank you guys! I own you guys some beers

That is probably the collateral registration, and if so that is reasonable.

You are very welcome. They tried to screw you and only backed out of their outright lie when they knew that had no choice. This deal would have went through a few hands and no one picked up this so called error. BS!

In cased you missed it (thanks Conwelpic)

DON'T BUY FROM BAY CITY KIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA!

Completely unacceptable. Vankia08, send a copy of this forum to the dealer's principal. As well, report this to the Better Business Bureau. You aren't the first consumer they tried to screw.

The great thing about doing the above, now Bay City Kia will show up in google searchs. Power to the consumer.

These guys are crooks, check this out:

Rip-off Report: Johnny Jung, Chosun Imports, Abenante Motor Group, Mario Abenante, Bay City Kia: Toyota Hiace FRAUD, Rip-Off On Replacement Kia Van, DEAL IN BAD FAITH, Port Coquitlam / Vanouver, B.C. Canada Sold Japan Import 1992 Hiace that is not street legal, Riped Off on replacement Kia Sedona Van, Lied about MSP on Kia Rio, SCAM ARTISTS Port Coquitlam British Columbia

Vankia08, under the law you can get out of any contract within 30 days. If you need to, take the car back, give them the keys and tell them you expect your money back within seven days.

might take you up on that beer, and pleased you were able to get some restitution. We are hoping to do a cross Canada tour to the west coast in the Rondo in a couple of years. Next year its a trip to the Atlantic Provinces.

I only hope this doesn't turn you off from this fine vehicle.

Yes it is an extra $150 for the metallic paint, only white is a none charge. Tinted windows are not standard, but $500 is excessive, my dealer was charging $399, but after market appears to be in the region of $250. Still trying to decide whether to get mine done or not.

We look forward to your feedback on your thoughts on the vehicle.
