Here's a blogger's account of cross-shopping the Carens with the Ford C-Max, Mazda5, Renault Grand Scenic and Citroen Xsara Picasso. Too bad these vehicles (besides the Mazda) aren't available on this side of the pond.

I could not agree with you more. I think the MPV segment has become one of my favorites (personal bias aside) and am glad 2, so far, are catching on over here. I have linked an article from Autoblog.com stating the C-Max might make it's way over to the US. Don't you think it would make its way to Canada, too. I hope the blog is correct.
YouTube is another site I go to just to watch the videos of all the vehicles you mentioned.

Any recent Rondo purchasers in the Greater Toronto Area?
(I'm dropping this comment in this thread -- seems to fit as well)
Hi,
We're still trying to become proud Rondo owners. We've heard that Canadian Kia dealers are starting to clear out 2008 models. Yet the Kia dealers we have visited barely want to budge on original 2008 full pricing. We would prefer the EX V6 premium luxury model with 7 seats, leather interior and sunroof. Has anyone bought something similar in the G.T.A. recently?
Then when we see the prices American forum members have been able to find (and we realize it isn't quite comparing oranges to oranges because of subtle model differences) but rough comparables seem to be $4000 - $5000 apart! Kia Canada's website doesn't spell out any dealer rebates/incentives which we have found do exist from a couple of dealers.
What do you think is a fair 2008 price in the G.T.A. now?

those deals in the US are on 2007 models, not on 2008's that I'm aware of. Kia Canada is offering 0% financing up to 72 months depending on the model - it maybe 60 months on a Rondo.
If the dealer is going strictly by the MSRP without any padding (administration charges, etc) then don't expect too much discount. If you are in doubt pay $40 to Car Cost Canada and you can get the dealer costs on any vehicle you are interested in (up to 5 different models) and they will also inform you of any current rebates or incentives (these seem to change every month) - worked for me, well worth it.

I was quoted 26000 for an EX V6 Luxury from 417 kia in Ottawa.
That was after freight/pdi, gas tax, paint charge.
Invoice on a Rondo is 24,005. Add some more for profit, then take some more off. They usually have another $1000 to play around with. I figured that out just standing around in the dealership. They would say "You already drive a Kia, well you get $1000 off" or "You drive a competitor, so that's $1000 off". It wasn't too difficult to get to my number but I still didn't buy. No particular reason, just wasn't ready.

We're close to buying (in the Toronto region). Best cash price we have been offered for the EX-V6 Luxury is $25,328.00. That is all-inclusive including plates with just GST/PST to be added on. Sound OK?

sounds good to me, as the MSRP on this model is $27,995 ($26,095 plus the freight and pdi at $1650, the a/c tax at $100 and paint at $150), that's some discount!

It's a done deal!
Just to update our G.T.A. buying experience -- a 2008 Rondo EX V6 Luxury for $24,779 all-inclusive except for plates, tank of gas and our ever-present GST/PST! Our dealer gave us the lowest internet quote by far and then we sweated a few days to gamble if Kia Canada was going to increase their cash rebate (they did -- went to $2000 in June from $1500). Can't wait to get it home!
