If this is even possible, good luck opening the rear hatch without your clubs crashing to the payment putting some nice dents in them!

For all these reasons, the V6 was a better fit for me and not a huge increase in cost, up front or operating. I also have experience with this engine as my Santa Fe has a 2.7L Korean made engine. Probably the same as the Rondo's, since Hyundai owns Kia.

I agree in most cases the I-4 is enough for most people.

And Kevin, if we ever meet on a Montreal highway, good luck keeping up with me
Peter, 20 extra horses doesn't matter much especially when the speed limit still remains at 100kph. I do understand your point the need for a V6 for towing.

110KPH here in most of Nova Scotia on the TransCanada Highway. I was just having a bit of fun, have you had your coffee yet?

Two more positive reviews for the Rondo, but I'll introduce them with some commentary.

I'm starting to wonder just how objective these reviews really are, especially the ones appearing in newspapers. Check out any newspaper and there's usually a special section that appears every week that's all about vehicles. This section is chock-full of large, colourful ads for the biggest dealerships in town, with a handful of articles interspersed among them for good show. Clearly, these weekly ads are a major revenue earner for the newspapers.

Just read this review at the Colorado Springs Gazette. Doesn't it sound suspiciously like an infomercial? Check out their reviews for other vehicles and every single one is positive (as far as I can tell).

It's the same story at the Goldsboro News-Argus, although this review is more typical and doesn't include statements from the dealership staff like the Gazette review. Again, it seems as though all of their reviews are thumbs up.

Anyway, that's just my observation, although it's hardly earth shattering. I think a "No kidding, Sherlock" might be called for here.

A review from the Canadian magazine World of Wheels. A slightly different version of the article can be read here. Here are some comments of note:

Quote:
Styling? Well, what can you say? Let’s say such nondescript styling really works well with Rondo’s overall mission of substance over style. Curious, too, that when many manufacturers bust a gut to make their crossovers all macho and SUV-like, we have Kia opting to make a crossover more minivan like. But again, if the most efficient use of space means a minivan profile, then that’s what we should get.
Quote:
But the Rondo’s main competitor in the cheap and cheerful three-row-seating sweepstakes - the Mazda5 - is particularly athletic. And it can also be ordered with a stick. So if you’re looking for a bit more driving thrills in the segment, you should probably look Mazda’s way.

The Toronto Star has a comparative review of the Rondo and Mazda5. The Mazda5 gets the edge. Despite this fact, I pretty much agree with what was said in the article.

make you wonder - where on earth did they come up with the fact that the V6 Rondo will tow 5000 lbs - that guy never read the manual

with a recent reference on the article from the New Zealand media said:

The nose certainly looks very much like a Legacy, while the rear is a little unusual in appearance through a chamfered tailgate that is designed to modify windflow to keep the rear glass cleaner.

...this has never been mentioned before that I can recall, but I've noticed that, I find I don't have to use that rear wiper too often when driving in wet weather - certainly a lot better than the Cavalier wagon I used to have. Its one of those things that you don't always appreciate till you see it in practical use.

I noticed this article says that the Rondo was electronic brake force distribution. I never knew this. I know it has ABS but I didn't know about EBFD. I commented to my wife today about how well the brakes work.

5,000lbs! I am all set, what was I worried about?

On the design to help keep the rear window cleaned - maybe that why KIA didn't think an intermittent wiper was necessary?
