Just to add about the Consumer Reports review, they rated it 76 out of 100 (which was their second best wagon), the first pick was the Mazda5, but they don't say why they liked that one better. I prefered the Rondo (obviously).
Most of their complaints were nit-picky or personal preference, but I do agree with every one, unsuportive seats (I see how some people might think so), no telescoping steering wheel (one of my gripes), loud suspension (who cares, still quieter than some, and they even commented that it drives like a more luxurious vehicle), poor cutoff on the headlights (Several on this board have this complaint as well), and cheap dummy buttons for the radio controls on LX model (but think of what it would look like without dummy buttons: awful as it wouldn't be balanced with the cruise control on the other side).
Unfortunately in her enthusiasm she fails to get a couple of items straight. First, she doesn't note that folding down the second row in the seven-seater model is a three step process, different from the five-seater, and secondly, she says there isn't another comparable vehicle in this price range, and while I didn't choose the Mazda 5, I wouldn't deny it's a competitor.
But she gets a lot of things right too.

It is fine, it just depends on what it is up against. The Mazda had 86, and the next closest, the scion xB had a 68 rating, so the Mazda and the Kia were out in front, and most everything else had around 50s or 60s.
I am not sure how they determine those numbers, but overall they were happy with the Kia. They couldn't predict reliability yet, but they commented that the Kia Optima was above average so the Rondo should be too (they are the same basic vehicle mechanically).
In the Consumer Reports 2007 annual auto issue, the Mazda5 topped the "Wagons and Hatchbacks" category. If the Rondo were included in that category, it would've been tied for 4th out of 22 vehicles.
For a complete listing of scores and categories, see the attachment (the "Wagons and Hatchbacks" category is on page 12).
Viking79, where did that score of 68 for the Scion xB come from? In the "Wagons and Hatchbacks" list, its score was 50.
