Truck Trend art director Thomas Voehringer notes, "My youngest daughter likes the Rondo a lot." For perspective, he adds, "She also likes Pokemon." Voehringer himself assesses the Rondo's styling this way: "Kia touts that the Rondo has Cabinosity and Giddyupedness, but fails to declare it also has Fuglytude." While he doesn't care for the looks from the outside, he finds little to fault from behind the wheel. "There's plenty of giddyup here, with the front end lifting like Lone Ranger's Silver every time you give it the gas." Back in the saddle, Voehringer continues: "Once the Rondo settles down into commuting mode, it doesn't nag you with many problematic issues. It's actually quite comfortable to cruise in. Its blah visual persona makes it almost invisible to traffic on the freeway. I do wish the seats had a couple more inches of travel to accommodate my long legs." He sums up: "The Rondo seems to have all the negatives of a minivan with none of the positives."
"Huh?" wonders assistant art director Mike Royer, who disagrees with Voehringer's appraisal. "It has a lot of passenger room but takes up a fraction of the space - that ratio seems good to me, especially with high gas prices, not to mention the pain in the butt of trying to park a minivan in a tight space." Royer, a self-proclaimed fan of "bare-bones cars done well," appreciates the Kia for its "ample room, comfortable drive, good steering, and plenty of power," not to mention that it "passes my hockey-bag test with flying colors."
Royer concludes, "It's the kind of car you enjoy driving into the ground over a long period of time - a worker."

That just about sums it up for me too, I'd add good visibility (except the a pillars which have a nasty blind spot) & excellent value for money.

Just an interesting fact: I've noticed that some blogs automatically (not instantaneously though) find websites that refer to its posts and then the referring websites magically appear in the blogs' comments section.

hard to tell where it was written from, but I'm guessing the US, I can't agree with her on the stereo, I think it sounds fantastic particular with a CD or the mp3 player - maybe it wasn't set up right, you know how people will play around with things in a rental vehicle.

This review showed up in print in the Vancouver free daily "24 Hours" on June 26th. My parents clipped it for me but gave it to me too late to look on their website so I thought I'd see if anyone else had posted it here... and recognized the phrase "cat on a carpet," not surprisingly.
I'm suddenly seeing a LOT of Rondos out and about. But now I REALLY never know whether to wave or not.
Drives: Shoe Leather Express - Previous ride stolen, leaning towards getting a Rondo though

He slams the 2.4l for lack of power and noise under hard acceleration, I didn't seem to notice it much, of course it wasn't under any type of load. I did notice it was a little rough and noisey with the A/C running though.
Here's an eccentric and somewhat amusing review of the Rondo from St. John's, Newfoundland, which is actually less a review of the Rondo and more about the writer's yearning for the vans of the 1970s.
