Stereo removal & Sub swap help
I just purchased a SIRIUS Sat. for my Rondo & I wanna splice into the antenna & Hide all the wires. I have tried & tried to get the front cover off. I already have about three spots where I've pried on the dash. I just can't get the front dash panel off. Please help. Is there a special tool to buy or is there some screws (I don't know about) holding it on? Also has any1 swap out the stock sub for a better one. Maybe you could just slice into the wiring & put an 8" or 10" single sub? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I have the EX Infinity system. Regards....Wayne H.
OneQwikPony, did you check the online shop manual? http://www.kiatechinfo.com
If not, registration is free. Perhaps there might be a diagram showing how to remove the panel or where all the attachment points are. Plus, you might find some relevant info about the stereo system.
OneQwikPony - welcome to the forum, nice to talk to another Rondo owner, however, could you just adjust your "location" in your profile to elaborate on where "Sooner Country" is located. I had to Google it as I suspected it was somewhere in the US, could be Oklahoma?
It helps on the forum to know where you are from as it could be relevent to the question or info that you provide. Thanks.
PS: could you also add the engine size to your profile regarding the Rondo.

Oh, thank you. I appreciate it greatly. That helps alot. As I was prying all around the main panel. I had no idea I had to remove the shifter panel. Thanks & Regards.... Wayne H.
Just replaced the factory radio in my Rondo with an after market JVC. I has the aux input and did everything well except pick up AM stations. After a tremendous amount of word and research I found that the Kia Rondo antenna needs to be "energized" for good AM reception - possibly because of the small size of the antenna. The way I did this was to use the output line from the radio for power antenna activation (or aux amp activation) and connected it to the adapter from the radio installation kit. Had to find the right wire but now it works great. Did not know they had to do this for good old AM, but I listen to the talk shows sometimes so it had to work.

Can you post some photos how it looks like with a after market Radio in Rondo? I was thinking about it.
