Default Radio Swap

Call Crutchfield and ask them if they will sell it separately. I think they do not like to do this without selling the radio as they try to be sure each radio will fit. Their prices are pretty good though so you may find a radio you like there while asking for the adapter plug.

Since we are on the topic of stereo removal ... does anyone know if a deck from US manufactured Rondo with MP3 and in-Dash 6CD changer would work in a Canadian model ?

I wonder if wire harness would connect directly and it would be just a smiple swap .. or it would be a bit more difficult.

I would not mind keeping stock radio .. works for me .. i just missing mp3 playback ...

thank you in advance.

Greg

Greg, you have a 2008 Rondo which means that you have a AUX port in the center console. Just plug your MP3 player in there, select AUX on the head unit and you are good to go. If you don't have one I recommend it because it sounds fantastic. We have an iPod Nano. We haven't used the CD player yet!

I still have lot's of MP3 CDs and original CD's left from my other car i used .. that i why i was wondering about replacing the unit. I use AUX port for my Sirius radio .. and sometimes for my wifes IPod.

I do not want to start another thread .. but maybe i should. Are you using your IPod with car charger ? or do you just internal battery once charged at home.

The reason i am asking is because when i use my Sirius radio i can hear my engine come in thou th speakers. I think that there might be a potential ground difference between the radio ground and a ground of the 12V plug in the console.

I wonder if you or anyone used Aux Port and 12V power to power audio device at the same time.

I went to the dealer but my radio was blamed for the issue, even though i have replaced the radio once already, because i thought that it was causing interference.

Greg, I have dual screen dvd players for the kids. I notice I get that whine through the sound. It was really apparent in my Santa Fe but I am unsure whether or not I get it in the Rondo. I don't have an in car charger for our iPod because we rarely use it long enough to die without being home to recharge it.

When the DVD players are plug in we use the plug in the dash. I will let you know next time I drive our Rondo if that whine is there. I don't drive it much though so it maybe a while before I can respond.

You are correct, if the whine is there it's likely a ground issue.

In some of the 08s I have rented, I use a 12V/5V phone charger with a mini USB plug with my Creative "Zen" MP-3 player. This keeps it fully charged. Can also charge the AT&T Cell phone with same charger.

Has anyone replaced their Infinity radio in an 07 EX with an aftermarket radio to pick up the AUX port ?? If so, what kind of radio ?? ??

Or, better alternative, has anyone found a harness that will plug into something on the stock radio and provide an AUX port ?? ??

Thank you .. that would be nice. I am very curious to see if anyone else has the same problem. I do not want to open the console specially if it is grounding issue, i could more damage then good. I have to get a charger for my wifes IPod to see if it will do the same. Without it sounds phenomenal, there is no questions about it.

When ever you can let me know, i would appreciate that very much.

Greg

I'm very interested in the Dynamat -- how well does it work -- really a difference? I'm pulling my interior because I found a leather interior on a wreck -- figger I should dynamat it while empty if it's really worth it.

Thx
