Hi everyone, we have a 2001 Carens SX 1800 petrol, no real complaints after 64000 happy motoring miles, that is until today.

Between getting out to post a letter and getting in again the drivers door somehow became like Fort Knox and refused to open from either the outside or the inside.

Anyone any ideas? Has it ever happened to you? If so how did you resolve the matter? I hate paying the dealers prices for labour and the other sundries they always seem to add on.

in advance.

After two days of climbing over seats, gear levers and handbrakes to get into the driving seat, we decended upon the nearest KIA Dealer (MSF in Leeds).
“Hi we had our car in here last week for its service and now the door has jammed shut, so do you have someone who could have a look at our drivers door, it seems to jammed from both the inside and outside”
MSF “Far too busy, can book it in for Monday so we can remove door and see what problem is”
“Okay thanks for your total lack of help and customer service”

We ended up at a local small garage (A&B Autos) who did the job in 15 minutes, turned out that a screw which holds the locking mechanism had come loose and was almost out was jamming the door against the bodywork.

Needless to say the big boys will no longer be getting our hard earned cash.

Glad to see you have got the door sorted out, some of
these main agents are not all they are cracked up to be.
The small garage you have got more chance of talking
to the guy who is doing the actual job.
Happy motering.
