I looked on alldata.com and no bulletins on the replacement of the sway bar bushings, but that is the problem if the front end clunks over bumps. When I talked to the Kia rep he said that the sound plagued the early 05's also. I had to call Kia Corp and threaten lemon law before they would get a factory tech out to the dealer to fix the problem, but we have listed the part numbers so you should be able to order the new parts and get it fixed. I now have 18,000 miles and not a peep out of my front end.

Cool Dreaded clunking noise Amanti front end-one possible fix

Greetings: Thanks for all of the great information. After 4 visits to 3 different dealers to fix that terrible clunking noise it appears to have been fixed with the following components:
54630-3F000 brkt ass-frt
54641-3F000 pad-fr spring up
54644-3f000 pad- fr spring lw
55343-3f000 rubber-upr
54611-3f400 s/abs assy, frt
54642-3f050 bushing-upper
55337-3f800 collar
54410-3f100 arm assy - fr upr

LONG VERSION BELOW:

The first "dealer" I borught it too wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee out of my own pocket. Do NOT put up wth such nonsense, please. I immediately drove to the dealer from whom I purchased the car. They told me this was a common problem and would look at it no charge. The only problem was they had it for a week and didn't do a thing to is since they didn't hear it when they test drove it. I guess they think I was imagning it! I called the 800 number Kia provides and after getting little satisfaction, they did refer me to another dealer. They had it another week and as soon as I drove it out of the lot there was the sound again. I drove it for a couple of days trying to see if I could live with the noise; no way. I dropped it off again (same dealer) and after another week I just got it back and (crossing my fingers) appears fixed. The interesting thing is they never closed out the paperwork on the first visit (maybe they knew it wasn't fixed).

SHORT VERSION

Please do not give up and accept this as normal. Insist on your rights and let Kia know you will not accept "diagnostic fees" on something that is their fault. I know it is frustrating and I don't even want to think how much of my own money I spent on gas (4 hour round trip minimum.)

Good luck and I will check back occasionally to see if there are questions..
regards,,,,,,,,,,,

54410-3f100 arm assy - fr upr

This is all they replaced on my 05 Amanti. The clunking is gone for now but there is some play in the wheel.

I guess I'll wait and see.

Cheers,
Jim

Well, I am off to the dealer with my "dreaded front end clunk" armed with all this information, but I suspect they are going to "there there little lady" me out the door. I tried today to get them to order the parts so they would have the right things when they get the car but they told me they would not know what was needed until they got the car... I suspect they are suffering from expertitus, a painful but common complaint where one begins to believe that you are the only one who knows anything.

wish me luck

My '05 also had the noise. After several trips to the dealer on the problem, it magically corrected itself. When I got the repair order, there was no mention of parts or spacers. Only that the technician torqued the fastners to factory specs.

I suspect that the new bushings and or spacers were installed and this really fixed the problem.

I just joined the Kia Forum and noticed that you had experienced the squeak, squeak in the right front end. I too am having this problem. It just started a couple of months ago and with the windows closed you can't really hear it very good but my wife pointed it out as she heard me drive off. What was the cause and the repair solution for your 2004' Amanti?

I just want to thank everyone here at this wonderful forum.

I just bought a used 2004 Kia Amanti with 76,000 miles and I love everything about it except it had this awfull klunking noise in the front suspension whenever I was driving on rough or washboardy roads/streets and it was driving me crazy.

I had my allignment man look at it and he couldn't find anything wrong although he was busy and didn't look real hard. I then had a local tire/brakes/tune up shop put it on his lift and try to locate the problem to no success.

I finally took my Amanti to the closest Kia dealership just to have them charge me $35.00 and tell me that the struts were bad and that they could replace the struts for nearly $600.

as a last resort, I googled the problem and came across this thread. I then ordered two of the 62544-3F000 pads/spacers ($4.40 ea) for the stablizer arm bushings and installed them, thinking there is no way the fix can be this simple and inexpensive.

well to my amazement, the klunking noise is completely gone. It made a new car out of my Amanti. the ride is near silent now. I am simply amazed and can't thank you good ppl enough.

I may be a little vindictive but I can't wait to point out this simple fix to my local Kia dealer and their Kia tech of 15 years that in their eyes, walks on water. I was running out of options and places to look and they almost convinced me it was a problem with the struts. Being a diesel mechanic myself for 15 over years, I really didn't think that was where the problem resided. Once again, thank you.
