Question Will Kia also close Dealerships?

I just wonder if Kia will also close some Dealerships across the USA?
I know some Kia Dealerships have changed ownership many times in the past five years.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. If their sales are down too, which they probably are it wouldn't surprise me. I brought my Sorento in this week to the closest dealer which is about 5 miles away. I hope they don't close, that would be a hassle having to drive further distances to a dealership.

I don't think it will be anything like the "slice and dice" that GM and Chrysler are doing - just regular business as dealers open and close. In fact, in Canada they could be opening more dealers, due to their increased sales.

I know my local KIA dealer is part of a group, which also owns Mazda and Nissan which is probably helping his overall sales as a group as they also own GMC, Cadillac, Chev, Pontiac and Buick dealerships. Fortunately he does not have any Chrysler dealerships.

Since Kia is still trying to find new markets, I'd be rather surprised.

Dealers that aren't measuring up would of course be subject but not as a general policy from what I see and sense.

Thou recent Financial World issues have some bearing on things. It is not as bad as it is with FORD/GM/CHRY and thier many subdivisions or partnerships. Any auto maker left not (SAAB/VOLVO) tied into them could in any other given year close a location if it is not up to par with company standards. Many Dealers that took on KIA franchise did so and were not fully commited to it like others were and it showed. Hense the turnover sited of changing hands a few times in the last five years. You will find that like other not the classic front line brands these days those dealers(Ford/GM/Chry primary stores) that have these lessor in thier mind makes as add on red headed step children of past are rethinking where their bread and butter is. And NOW taking a active role in seeing that they do not treat them as bad as they were. Since the big three crapped out on thier big grand can do no wrong ideals. And closures are only plain and simple bad dealers in the apple barrel. And most surely will not be a closeure like the big three are having unless the Dealer Principle of the whole store complex is told they are no longer a FORD/GM/CHRY point as many are being told. And they go MIA and take the KIA/Hyundai/Mini Cooper/Suzuki/Subaru ect point with it. And just close up shop totally rather then move on with the ones they still have franchise agreements with. Screwing loyal customers in the act with those brands. In a way it might be good for those of you that have those delaers and you know whom you are. As they might sit up and act right and fly straight now for you. In the end you get way better dealer for it. Something many here I see do not have like the rest of us do. And I do have a wonderful dealer.
Here in Charleston SC area we have two KIA dealers. One KIA COUNTRY (Bob Faircloth) owns three stand alone Kia stores here in SC (bought our 2003 Spectra LS there) West Ashely SC one in Myrtle Beach SC and elsewhere I think Beaufort SC and might I think have the one in Savanna GA. The other one mine as it is closer (niether is far) and I bought the 2004 Sorento LX there is Stokes Network of dealers is as well a KIA stand alone building in North Charleston SC. And they are just finishing a brand new much bigger building few miles up the road in Goose Creek SC. And they own or are partners in MANY makes Honda/VW/Mazda/Toyota maybe one/two more and all I recall are stand alone as well. You might call them a MEGA dealer network but with VERY NICE newer single smaller stand alone buildings each one after the new KIA building comes online. Rather then one huge building with four in it all jockeying for floor/lot and service dept space as many MEGA store do. And do everything, but nothing well as well all have seen in past most times. Good point was the guy in here whos mega dealer was a Ford/Honda/Toyota/KIA dealer. And he came here asking if it was ok that his 60,000 service on his Sorento got Ford trans fluid,Toyota brake/power sterring fluid,Honda coolent. As his dealer told him it is fine. I think in the end we decided that it was not, as he had I recall the 5spd auto (RED-1) trans. And nobody but KIA had that fluid so the ford stuff was no good nor should he have been told it was to put in. Thou I will say if he did have (I think he did not) the 4spd auto (DEX-III) trans like I do. He could have used the Ford MerconIII in it. As Dextron I II III are the same as Mercon I II III in specs. And all suppercede up to Dex/Merc III. Dex IV V VI and Merc V are not the same nor suppercedeable from or after III from the data specs.
