Could part of the Amanti "problem" be that the car is just plain BUTT UGLY? Had it been built in 1958 the Edsel would have outsold it three to one on looks alone!

My humble opinion, mind you..

Of course I saw it Conwelpic

Conwelpic - see, you're an "expert" and I'm just a "newbie". Can't expect much out of us Newbies!:D

Actually, I wanted to post the article and link, then I had a version of that table for April NICELY SPACED! I had reformatted it and sent it to an automotive manufacturing and engineering discussion group. Trouble is, it un-formatted itself and ended up looking just like yours afterall!

So it's not a Canadian language problem I guess - those tables just won't behave for anyone! ;)

Our road(s) through our subdivision total maybe four miles. Perhaps 200 homes. Tonight my daughter and I traveled through, counting, and added the ones we know are in the 'hood but were out and about. We came up with 12 Kias total, but ours is the only Rondo. Next door neighbor came home with a new Optimo Saturday. The "movement" grows...

I live out in the country and I don't see another Rondo, or very rarely even another Kia going to and from work (34km round trip). But to put it in perspective, the Honda Civic which is the top selling car in Canada (they sold over 8,000 in April), I very rarely see even one of those. This area is mostly trucks, SUV's and minivans.

About the Rondo's looks (as mentioned earlier), I've talked a lot about it over at Edmunds and at times I've sounded goofy and at other times I've sounded quite defensive about it. There's actually a reason for why I seem to be hung up on it.

Every now and then, I trawl the Web for any new info on the Rondo. A few months ago, I re-discovered a Mazda forum that I once frequented for a short period before I bought the Rondo. While reading some of the few posts about the Rondo, it seemed as though whenever the subject was brought up, there was always a certain Mazda5 owner who just couldn't pass up the opportunity to trash the Rondo, especially its looks.

That in itself doesn't really bother me that much. To each his own. The thing is, this same Mazda5 owner also participates at Edmunds's forums. Over there, even though he's clearly a Mazda5 apologist, he's a model of civility and fairness. I'm not sure why I care, but this two-faced behaviour really ticks me off. He passes himself off as Jekyll, but all I can see is Hyde (btw, anybody seen that BBC series "Jekyll"? Brilliant stuff).

I suppose I'm also a bit like Mr. Hyde, since I start seeing red whenever I see one of his posts, which explains why I try to stay away from the "Mazda5 vs. Rondo" discussions at Edmunds.

Anyway, enough with the therapy session--and totally off-topic, as usual. I mostly like the way the Rondo looks, although my opinion has wavered in the past. In fact, I just received a compliment on it this morning at an ice rink parking lot (where I go for public skating once a week. Ever heard of Mira Leung? She's always there practicing).

shortage of Rondos to sell?

Dealers around Louisville/Southern Indiana as well as the general midwest area seem to have no Rondos at all. None. Zip. Not even one on the showroom floor. One dealer here tells me they just plain can't get any.

Anyone else observe or hear this?

Sure would account for those reduced sales comps.

I was sure this was happening in the US based on the figures that came out for May and now these June figures. However, in June even with the reduction, they still outsold the Mazda 5 which was ahead of the previous year at 1416 units (this is for the US only).

I would think in Canada the supply is pretty good, based on my visit to the dealer last week he seemed to have a good supply at around 8-10 in stock and there was also one on display in the local mall.

Kia Motors America sales are down!! But so is the sales of most of the car companies, right?

.
not so in Canada as KIA showed a 2.2% gain over August 2007, selling 3,875 units.
Big shocker is Honda with a 18% decrease, but I have read that they ran out of vehicles that they needed.

largest decrease for the month is Porsche at 40.4%
largest increase for the month is Smart at 117.5%
