The US plant also built close to 50,000 Santa Fe's which needs to be added to those production figures. The Optima is built just for the US, Canada still gets there's from Korea. US hybrid models still come from Korea. Canada gets there Sorento's from the US.
IRVINE, Calif., February 1, 2013 – Kia Motors America (KMA) today reported an all-time record January with 36,302 vehicles sold, a 2.2-percent increase over the same period in 2012. The U.S.-built* Optima midsize sedan and Sorento CUV continued to lead sales for the brand with 11,252 and 8,005 units sold respectively, sustaining the company’s momentum at the beginning of a new year that will see the arrival of several all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles.
Mississauga, ON, Feb. 1, 2013 – Kia Canada Inc. reported 3,673 new vehicles sold in the month of January, marginally down 2.7 per cent versus January 2012. In the month of January, two award-winning models in the Kia lineup had impressive sales increases. The Rio sub-compact, including the 5-Door and sedan versions, which were recently named as Motoring TV’s 2013 ‘Best Small Car’, was the volume leader for the month, recording a 24.8 per cent increase year-over-year. The Rio’s sales figures from January place it as the top-selling sub-compact vehicle in its segment. The Optima mid-size sedan, which offers three different powertrains including Gasoline Direct Injection, Hybrid and Turbo variations improved by 22.3 per cent in January 2012 versus the previous year.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Kia Canada Inc. reported 4,161 new vehicles sold in the month of February, down 10.5 per cent versus February 2012. In the month of February, Motoring TV's 2013 'Best Small Car', the Rio sub-compact, including the 5-Door and sedan variations, continued as Kia Canada's volume leader for the second consecutive month, recording a 47.4 per cent increase year-over-year. The Sorento Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) reported a total of 924 new vehicle sales, while the award-winning Optima mid-size sedan achieved 703 units sold.
"Kia is in the midst of an aggressive product offensive this year, revealing the 2014 Sorento SUV and all-new 2014 Forte sedan to Canadian media, and more recently, showcased the North American debut of the functional and dynamic 2014 Rondo and Canadian premiere of the 2014 Cadenza premium sedan at the Canadian International Auto Show," said Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada Inc.
