I was just wondering peoples thoughts on this one..Why do you think the blue book value on Kias sucks still..I understood more with the older models (no offence to anyone who has one) But with the new line (mainly 2005 and 2006) there excellent cars all around.. My thought is its either supply and demand, there so easy to get new, why buy used, and or people still have the perception they did with the Ford Festiva (Kias first car in the US) or the original Sephia...What do you think?
Because the parts they use are low grade so to say.. at least compaied with other companies.. cheap interior plastics, no real great features (nothing that no other company has) basically in my eyes they will always be the store brand product compaired to the premium brand product..
compaire walmart to say sears....
walmart has all the low brand products and sears has the best products and wont carry cheapies..
You wanna get the cheapest tv and no name brand go to walmart.. you want a great name product that isnt so cheap you go to sears... get my drift?
same in this case you want a cheap car get a kia, otherwise go to any other car maker for the better...

Well.. hopefully that will all change, now that KIA has introduced the Amanti and Hyundai is coming out with the Azera. And the New Optima/Sonata that are out should be using better materials. Well hopefully that is.. heh.. newayz, that's about it from me.. I won't continue to babble! :P
It does look like they are making a good move with parts...I honestly could tell a BIG differnce on my 05 Spectras interior..Vs my girlfriends 03 Rios...I mean it could be better but it looks like they are improving to me...My thought is, now correct me if im wrong, but not everyone starts out as the best.....Kia is just taking their time
I guess what comes to mind is they thought Henry Ford was crazy...Look at his company now.
I think people are just beginning to really take notice of Kia (and Hyundai) as more than "junkers". When I bought my Optima (almost a year ago) I saw very few of them on the road... now I see at least 1 or 2 per day lol. Hyundai Sonatas are everywhere, and the Amanti and Azera are definitely going to help change the perception of these companies. Hehe my next car will probably be an Amanti, but I've got a few years to go haha.
One more thing, everytime one of my friends sees my car they go on about how nice looking it is, and how nice the ride is... then when I tell them it's a Kia they're confused haha. I think it's just a matter of time for Kia
I have been a kia owner for oh 8 years now. Been a part of numerous kia forums since 1999.... I always hear the oh kias just starting out and oh kia will get better... But it hasnt changed yet in even the least amount...... Kia sells cars on the basis of they are cheap dependable (well kinda dependable) trasportation....
This is who kia is.. You cant make a cheap car with the upmost high grade materials its just not cost effective....
Think can kia or any company use the best materials and still make it cheap.. NO WAY it isnt possible....
The old saying goes like this
You get what you pay for....
A 10-12K car is going to be cheap..... a 25K car wont be cheap....
a 10-15K car is going to have cheap materials.... a 25K car will have nice materials.. just the wya it is..
I remember when the new spectra came out.. Everyone everywhere says the resale value for these new kias where going to be good.. But look.. go buy a 04 or 05 specrta or spectra5....
take it out for a month see the value of that ride go down over 5K right in a month......

My thought on why the resale value goes down....Is because of the way people percive(sp) the cars...If everyone thinks there gonna go down, then yes they will cause no one will be willing to pay it..My thought on Kias and the Kelly Blue Book...The only reason the resell is so low, people arent willing to pay it, cause of Kias Past reputation.. But to each his own...
cheap car = cheap materials period...........;................... cheap things dont last as long as good materials hence low book resale.... Quality of workmanship also applies.....

The cars are better quality than they used to be... even though they may be "generic" so to speak, the resale value should reflect the changes in the company over the past 5 years or so.
which I am saying.....
the new kias still dont have a good book value..
I took a look at kelley blue book for a 05 spectra.. buy it new for 14K... have 11K miles put on it... OK
The value of that kia is now under 9000 after just a few months and only 11K miles and in perfect condition...... The book is still low for kias and hasnt gotten any better....
I look at the interiors of the new spectras.. the interior is still bland and lets just say it looks cheap feels cheap and really IMO still isnt that much different from the previous kias. sure they used a bit of different knobs and such but the actual materials are still way cheaper feeling ande looking then other model cars...
Im not hating on kias its just if kia wants to get a name started for themselves they need to change the quality of the things they use.... otherwise its just not going to get any better...
