My mom took her KIA Sorento to get an oil change (since she has lifetime free oilchanges).
She had a new service worker she has never had before. The service worker **** tld my mom that she has now voided her warranty because she went over 3,000 miles from her last oil change and that VOIDS her truck warranty. so if anything breaks they are not responsible.
my mom said.. look #1 you just told me how good this car was and i take care of it, and then it took me over a month to get an appoinment. This time the service stupid **** yelled and said "well we're very busy here" .. hello! my mom lied and said, well my daughter took it to another place for an oil change since we couldnt get fit in here. lady said.. well for now your warranty is voided, until you have written proof of that oil change.
THATS A CROCK OF F*****G ****!!!
going over 3000miles isnt bad for the car.. actually should be done 5000 miles the way my mother drives it, ****!
so is this true? that kia has a warranty policy that
This is the first time I have heard of this. Show them the owners manual. I cant quite remember what it says for mileage between oil changes in it but I know its alot more than 3k miles.
it does not surprise me at all, 3k for severe duty, read the owners manuel as to what constitutes severe duty...they got you over a barrel, KIA warrenty, HA, HA, HA, big joke !
My 2005 Sorento Manual say's Scheduled Maintenance for Oil and Oil Filter to be replaced every 7,500 miles or 12 Months. Even though I have mine done every 3,000 miles
I would just laugh that service dude off and not worry about it. When the Kia Company sends you notice of loss of you'r warranty then you will know it's something to regard. Myself I would never go for them free oil change deals as I know they use cheap bulk oil and who knows who is doing the changing last week he was working at a Quick Trip I bet. Next week he will be sacking cans of beans at a local Albertsons.
I would return to the dealer with the manual in hand, and show them that the service interval in the manual states 7,500 miles. next I would contacted the state attornies office. lastly there is a law, i can't remember the name, that addresses these things. Anyway if states that the warenty cannot be voided due to a modification. that is not directly a result of the failure. therefore, she is not in violation of the stated mileage in the maunal, and the miles she did drive did not result in a failure therefore the warrenty cannot be voided.
My 2003 manual says 7,500 miles. And I make them put in mobil's 7500 mile oil in it. That company is just covering their ****, knowing that their oil is going to break down before 7,500 miles. And that would over time cause your engine to break before the warranty is up. I take mine to a walmart supercenter because they have that oil in stock. Or, I can go and buy the oil from an autoparts store and take it to any oil changing place and have them do all the dirty work, then just pay for the labor and filter.
I live in St. Louis, Mo. with almost 77,000 miles on my kia with no major problems with the oil being changed about every 8,000 miles, when I can pull it away from my wife.
