Back in June I had my timing and serpentine belts replaced and right away I started to hear a loud squeaking from the belts. Shortly after (2wks) my clutch went out. I had to save all summer to pay for the clutch to be replaced and had forgotten all about that squeaking now that I can drive again I remembered how annoying that noise is. HELP ME! Is there something that I can do that is low cost and someone who knows little to nothing about cars can do?

i have a 04 kia optima 2.4 automatic with a short ram intake installed, recently i was having an issue with performance and gas mileage (sluggish and about 18mpg), i brought it to my mechanic and they replaced the MAF. it seemed to fix the problem for a bit but then the problem returned. when the engine is cool it runs fine but as soon as the temp gauge goes to about the quarter mark it wants to and sometimes stalls out unless i unplug the MAF. then it stays running but still mopes around and suffers crappy gas mileage. i checked the spark plugs and they are all fine and i keep up on all regular maintenance. any ideas on what is going on??

I've got a 2002 kia optima 90000 miles four cylinder and a few months ago i drove to my house and killed the car but it wouldn't quit running. You can turn key off radio lights and gauges go off and take key out but the engine keeps running. I found out if i took out the fuse labeled number 27 (PWR FUSE 1-30A)the engine would die when the key is turned off. I would like to know what this fuse controls. The car recently developed a miss and the check engine light came on. I hooked it up to a computer and it said missfire on cylinder 2 and 3 so i figured it could be the coil so i swapped the coils around and reset the light. It still misses but not as bad and it hasn't thrown another check engine light. When the car is cool or running at a slower speed it misses but when you get into it it quits. I changed plugs also. Could the coil be going bad and going in and out? and would the removed fuse have anything to do with this?

I have a 2004 Optima and the car stopped responding to one key fob about 2 months ago and the other key fob last week. The LEDs on each fob glow brightly when a button is pushed.

I have done a search on how to reprogram the fobs but have only found information about reprogramming the fobs for a Sorento.

Are the instructions for reprogramming the fobs for an '04 Optima the same as for the '03-'05 Sorento?

I thank you, in advance, for your help.

Hi my name is Rob and I have a problem. My timing belt broke and I need to find out if the engine is still good or garbage I took off the tensioner, Serpentine belt, Power steering pump, Upper motor mount, Upper cam cover and removed what was left of the timing belt I also removed the front 3 sparkplug's and I can turn the crankshaft really easily no grinding sounds. And I see nothing in the sparkplug holes I've read alot about the interference engines being trashed if the TB breaks so I need to know if there is a sure way to see if the engine is still good before I go any further. I'm making the tool to take off the crankshaft pulley and lower cover I also am replacing the water pump as well so I need to be sure. Cause if the engine is trashed I need to take all of the parts back and order a refurbished engine.

2001 Kia Optima SE 2.5 - manual controls for heat - A/C.

The Climate controls keep burning out. Just replaced the blower motor control switch and noticed the ground wire is getting extremely hot, and is starting to melt the plastic wire cover. The clip the connects in the back of the climate control is showing signs of overheating as well.

The blower motor works fine when running, but I am going to pull the glove box and check the connector on the blower motor end to see if it has the same overheating on that end.

I am thinking either a short in the blower motor, or the harness itself.

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Thanks,
Gary

Ok, So my wife was driving my kia this week, and it was about 100 degrees out side. She said she noticed the air conditioning go out and minutes later she said the power steering went out. So She drives for another mile or so before stopping (not sure why). When I get there to look at the car I fined both the power steering belt and the altinator belt broke and rapped around the crank. Talk about a fun job to get the belts cut off. Well I figure that the air conditioning pump locked up so I just replaced the belts with a non air belt and a new alternator belt. Well, now the motor runs but has no power, and sounds like the upper end has a lot of raddle.

1. Does anyone think the belts rapping around the crank could have messed up the timming?

2. Maybe ruined a sensor?

3. on a side note I found that I think I have a weak coil do to 2 plugs on the same one that have the electrodes eaten away.

Any help would be great, I hope it is not timming, I just spent 700 on that this winter.

2002 Kia optima 2.4 Automatic
Ok so before i started working on replace the marker light, I went to start my car, and it turned over really slow then it started..
Then I noticed the AC wasnt blowing strong, and the clock, gauges etc were dim, BUT if i stepped on the gas, it would blow harder and the gauges would get brighter

I replaced the alternator probably around a year or so ago, so I dont think its that

Also the battery always dies when i park it?
Even after I charge it, to where it is at 100% it will die just being parked for a couple hours
And when driving, i've had it seem like it is bogging down and the car is about to die then it suddenly revives and runs as if normal?

I cleaned the terminals, and the battery tested good so i'm not sure what could be going wrong? I may try get a new battery

My issue is similar to these two threads:
http://www.kia-forums.com/1g-2g-2001...ry-dieing.html
http://www.kia-forums.com/1g-2g-2001...ng-issues.html

ALSO when I tried shifting it into gear ( it is an automatic)
It was really tight, like I had to actually pull hard to get it to go into gear, as before it would easily shift into drive, reverse etc.
And it also doesn't seem to wanna go to Low gear or 1st and when you put it into park you have to play with it a little? and then it will click and settle, but then it doesnt show on the dash that it is in park

AND now, that I am done installing the new marker light, when you turn the key
NOTHING HAPPENS? It doesn't turn over, or make a clicking noise like it does when you have a dead battery
If the radio is on and you turn the key to turn it over, it will go off, like it does when you normally try to start it, but now it doesn't do anything besides that.

Please help, I just got this car back from the paint shop today and now this happens.
