3.5L Engine Rattle Underload

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I have an '02 Sedona with a 3.5L with about 103,000 miles on it. I'm getting ready to change the timing belt and water pump. The van has had this rattle when the engine is cold, very noticable when in gear, not so much in park or neutral. It sounds as if it is coming from around the left side (front) of the engine, under the timing cover near the cam. Has anyone experienced this sound? I'm thinking it is the timing belt idler pulley, someone also suggested the camshaft bearings, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

2002 Sedona will not start

I bought a 2002 Sedona at an auction, no key, so I went to the dealer, they told me that a coded key was not required and gave me the key cut code, went to locksmith and cut a new key. Before I tried to start - charged the battery, checked all fluids and belts...there is gas in the tank... all looked good. Odometer reads ~ 250,000 km. (must be a lot of highway miles)

OK tried to start.... turns over fine but will not run.... it seams as though it wants to start but does not. unhooked the air intake and squirted some gas directly in.... still no start

Have been doing lots of reading... no apparent answers... crank position sensor? Immobilizer .... is there one on a 2002 without a coded key?

Would any of you experts have a step by step troubleshooting list that I should follow to find the problem. What the most common?

There is 3 coil packs but I find it hard to believe that all would go at once. Fuses all appear good but I'm going to pull them all one at a time to be sure.
