Hi everyone, I'm 16 and my dad just gave me his blue Spec5 with 99k on it. Him and I have been building it up but he recently lost his job and since he still loves to drive it, I wanted to surprise him with a cat back system but I'm not having any luck. I've checked magnaflow, flomaster, ebay, etc. How did you guys do your exhaust systems? I want to keep everything between manifold and cat.

Last month we got the "Congratulations on your 3rd year of ownership of your Spectra5" from KIA Corp.

They gave us a voucher for $200 worth of accessories and and a free total top to bottom car detail.

I ordered all weather floor mat's, cargo tray, and the stainless rear license plate cover....as it turns out they only want you to chose from "dealer installed" items, but after they called the regional KIA rep, they agreed to just let me have the items I chose.

So they came in yesterday and they look great.

I'm getting my full detail Tuesday and get the oil changed while I'm there.

Thanks KIA....heck of a deal....:)

My co-workers at my office all said they were jealous...complained that their car maker never offered them any deals like the KIA one...

2006 Spectra keyless remote programming

I am trying to program 2 keyfobs I purchased online into my 2006 spectra. When I bought the car it didn't have any keyfobs but the dealer said it was capable of having them. The directions to program the fobs is

"Jump DLC pins (under hood) #5 and #17. Turn Key. Press lock button 2X on 1st remote then (optional) press lock button 2X on second remote. remove key. remove jumper"

I located the diagnostic port under the hood. I am not clear on which pins are #5 & #17. I found a post that said if the notch is at the top the left pin is 1 and so on which would make #5 the first one on the center row left and 17 the 4th from the right on the bottom. Can anyone confirm this? The other question I have is only one of those pins appears to have any "metal" in it to jumper to.

My other question is when it says "turn key" I've been turning it to the "aux" position (not starting engine) is that correct?

If anyone has any suggestions on something I haven't tried please let me know.

Thank you.

Just bought my spec5 on Wednesday. The wife hasn't driven a small car in quite some time. She always drives the minivan. Gear selector on the column.

Well, we meet at her parents house and when we leave I ask if her and my daughters want to take the new car. When we get home she complains that the rpm's keep getting up close to the 8000 mark. I then ask if she had it in drive and she says she just depressed the gear select button and pulled it back. most likely she drove home in Low or 2nd gear.

Everything seems okay though.

I just bought my 2005 Spectra5 this Wednesday.

I went to turn the fog lights on and they are not working. I also, noticed that my cruise control is different than what's in the manual.

My cruise control lever is on the left side of the column, under the blinker control arm. Is this an aftermarket cruise control?

If the cruise control is aftermarket, then I think they took the power from the fog lights. Or, maybe the power is disconnected somewhere else.

Would anyone know how to make a direct on/off switch for the fog lights? What parts would I need?

Thanks for any help.

I have an 08 Spec5 (if you couldn't tell from my username, lol) and it desperately needs a clutch. I have read (on this forum or another, I'm not sure) that the factory flywheel is unable to be resurfaced. If anyone has reliable info on this it would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on getting a lightweight flywheel anyways, i was just curious as i have never heard of that before. Speaking of the lightweight flywheel, the one I'm looking at is the Fidanza 193141 aluminum flywheel. It is supposed to fit 04-06 Spectra, 99-07 Tiburon, and 99-06 Elantra. I'm sure it will fit mine, as from what I've gathered the engines are identical mechanically. The link to the page is:

Fidanza Flywheel - Aluminum HYUNDAI ELANTRA BASE; GLS; GT; LIMITED 1999 - 2006 2.0 193141

I am also installing the stage 1 clutch from kfxperformance.com, so anyone who has experience with these two mods please let me know how effective they are.

In the future I am planning to buy the header from the same site, but the fact that it replaces the first cat and leaves nothing between the O2 sensors makes me nervous. I know it will trip the MIL, but does anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

My last question pertains to piggybacks and standalone ECU's; any opinions or knowledge on the subject or where they can be found?
Thanks again for reading this and any information you may be able to provide in advance.
