Pipe missing from inlet manifold

There is a pipe or cap missing from a vacuum take off on the inlet manifold. The take off is located at the end of the manifold between the manifold and engine bay bulkhead. It is for a small diameter pipe. I heard a hissing coming from the back of the engine and tried to find where it was coming from. As I touched the take off I felt something drop away. Now I cant find anything hanging to re-attach. My local dealer could help as nothing was shown on his drawings. Has anybody got a petrol 16v FE sportage (mine is a 2001) who can help?

Over the past couple months I've had to repair n change a bunch of things condenser fan, fan clutch, purge valve, purge canister, exhaust manifold, motor mounts, MAF, and the list just keeps on goin. But lately whenever I ride with the a/c on it seems like the car loses power and it accelerates way slower than usual until i turn off the a/c then it goes to its usual self, what could this be?

My 99 Sportage 4x4 5 Speed MT has a relay clicking on and off as I drive down the street.
If I open the drivers door and close it, it goes away for a while but, then eventually returns to bug me.
I pulled each door sensor switch, cleaned and checked the connections and they seem to be OK. I suspect a relay within the alarm module but, I'm unsure if the problem is internal within the module or a faulty ground somewhere else. Has anyone had this issue and if so, what was your remedy? The door locks are a little funky too on this unit ...so, I also suspect they could have ground issues.

Driving the kia Sportage 2002 stalled while driving. I did notice steam coming from my vents into the cab before stalling. I noticed the steam and was heading toward the shoulder, when it stalled. And now it won't start. I didn't hear anything snap, or break, the car didn't shudder or loose control, not sure if that rules out the timing belt. Once on the shoulder, popped the hood. All belts which I can see were in place, can't see the timing belt cause its in a case. Checked the oil. it was good, the radiator was full, and I have almost a full tank of gas. A few things I noticed when trying to start it. The car whines while trying to turn over, the lights in the cab ( dash ) grow dim when trying to start. Not sure about the alternator, I did get a jump and the battery is fully charged. Still will not start. Help would be greatly appreciated...

need to lift my sportage some more?

hello everybody

I own a 2001 sportage. It has KYB shox on all four corners. I have also installed a set of lovells springs (australian company) - its a 2 inch lift. The thing is that the front end is lower than the back. its not a problem with the springs - its just the way that it is.

But.....I want to get some more lift up front because i keep hitting rocks with my bash plate.

Now: i have read about lift spacers, and as it turns our they are quite cheap to fabricate or purchase, but i have no experience with lift spacers - and my mates dont drive sportages, so they have no idea....

My question is- can i fit a lift spacer on my front shox together with my 2 inch spring lift? (im not talking about a HUGE lift- im not interested in major suspension alligment changes - maybe an extra 3-5 cm or 1.5 inch).

Are my KYB shox long enough? If not, do i have to install a different shock from another model?

Is there any other thing i should expext in regards of wear and tear to the suspension components after the extra lift?

Thanx for your help!!!!

OK, this might be a dumb question but I will stick my neck out anyway. A lot of people are quoting fault code Nos,;) where do they get them. Is it somewhere in the vehicle or is it from a special testing meter or gauge?:p

Also can this affect the way the vehicle changes gears from first to second, seems like it takes longer? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hey everyone I have a question for all to think about. I have a 2001 sportage and every once in a while get a PO422 Main CAT efficency below threshold. I really hate to remove this Cat to check to see if it is plugging up because it runs great, no mis-fire, not power loss at all, idles perfect. Could a front O2 sensor or rear O2 sensor be getting lazy and causing it to think the Cat is going bad, when really it is good? When viewing the O2 sensor's live data they both seem to respond to voltage change really good, up and down. I also think I have a thermostat that is opening a little quick. It gets up to normal temp, but on cold mornings it takes a little longer than normal to get up to temp. I checked and it is going into closed loop with the code present, which indicates it should not be running rich, but if it runs a little cool on the coolant temp then it would show through the coolant temp sensor and that could cause it to "rich" up the mixture a little, and maybe fool a lazy O2 sensor? Any thoughts on this? Also could you use a vaccum gauge to see if there is a exhaust restriction by checking to see if the vaccum drops as the RPM increase's. I think I read this method somewhere. If so where would be the best place to get a good vaccum reading. I would assume anywhere on the intake manifold would work. Any thoughts on this would help a bunch. I really hate the thought of messing with those rusted up exhaust bolt if I don't have too. Thanks for any help.

Hydraulic Lifters servicing?

I have a light tick/tap noise only noticeable under acceleration.. it doesn't get louder with more RPM or Load.. it just starts from light accel and continues and I bury the pedal and speedo. Cruise and Decel it is not there. I'd say it's piston slap, but it sounds like it's in the head. So I suspect lifters or injectors.
Is there also a manual valve lash adjustment or is it totally dependent on the hydraulic lifters to take up valve lash? I am also considering that I may be getting oil starvation to a lifter.. I frequently change my oil with synthetic castrol or mobil1 5w30 and (but) use a Fram oil filter. Just recently discovered that Fram's aren't as good as they used to be and that they don't filter the way they used to... inside is partially composed of plastic and the bypass valve is prone to open prematurely.. for those less inclined what I'm talking is this: Oil filters block dirt, but over time the filter's restriction increases and as a result the oil pressure, if neglected, becomes too high therefore integrated in the oil filter is a bypass valve designed to allow the oil to pass around the oil filter.. YES this means your dirty oil is not getting filtered, but this is better than NO OIL due to a clogged filter. This bypass also comes into play when the engine is first started up on a cold morning and the oil is too thick to get through the filter, especially when the viscosity has broke down.. so anyway.. back to my question..
Also, are there performance lifters available for the Sporage? I would really appreciate the ability of 6,000rpm's without valvefloat.i seen the FE3 Turbo'd on youtube in a 626 wagon (500hp) They were tuning and the RPM's eventually peaked 7,000!! I'm thinking they aren't using the same lifters our sportages have.. If I remember right, Kia added the hydraulic lifters for a smoother more durable engine... durable because the hydraulic lifters cut the power and it acts as a rpm limiter. Sorry for the novel.. Just alot of pent up thoughts and ideas in my head.. Any aftermarket cross reference parts and resourced would be appreciated.. PS.. I'm the #1 Sportage on Cardomain!!! -Sam

-Sam

I'm interested on putting a turbo on my sporty. A Kia mechanic told me that I have a mitsubishi motor, so I could use a mitsubishi eclipse turbo on it, true or not?

What the difference from a AL or KM motor?

What other cars has this same motor in them?

Thanks,
KG!
