Blower and AC button not working on 03 Rio.

It started in summer. Sometimes my blower would only blow at it's Highest speed, even if I had the control on "0", or off. Other times I couldn't get the blower to work at all. The A/C button comes on and off by itself, also. Sometimes when the A/C button is lit though, it seems that I have a better chance of the blower coming on (blowing on the highest speed of course, no matter what I have it set on).

Since it's almost December, and it's getting pretty chilly in my car, with out heat, I am needing it fixed. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what the problem could be. I had the Chevy dealership, where I bought it from look at it, and they said it was a "head control problem", which doesn't say much.

A few days ago I slammed the glove box and the blower started working, but the following morning it was not working so I tried to slam the glove box to get it going again, but the A/C light went off and nothing is working at all now. Most likely it won't until I get it fixed at this point.

Does it sound like a wiring issue within the controls?

Fixing the heater fan nob

Hi folks. On my KIA RIO the fan nob appears to have gotten loose. When the fan nob is on the first setting the fan runs. If I turn the nob to the other three settings the fan doesn't run. If I push in on the nob the fan works on the other three settings.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

kia rio 04 fr door lock sticking every like 4th time already used graphite

HI all,

A weird thing is happening with the door lock..one minute it will work fine..it will completely allow me to turn the key in the lock and the door will open like new..
then the lock will mess up..it won't allow me to turn the key completely to the left so the door will unlock/ the inner manuel door lock plunger won't release either..so I got out the graphite and the lock worked fine for about 10 times'

(After the graphite...) the lock mechanishm will allow my key to turn completely to the left but the plunger(inside door lock) won't come completely up..and the door inner mechanism won't release..then after playing with it for a few momments..it's like it hits a sweet spot and the lock "pops"..one can hear the audioble click in the side of the door (covered by the metal)..the sound originates above the mechanism( the "c' clamp_ that physically clamps onto the door when it is shut..

Then the inner manuel door lock plunger works fine??? it doesn't stick..I can move the key freely in the lock and the plunger opens and closes like nothing is wrong..

can anyone give me access to the lock's diagram or atleast tell me what is going wrong with the lock..why does it stick like every fourth time..
I'm thinking the lock is fine..plunger is fine..something in the car door is off track perhaps

thanks:D

I have a 2006 Rio With a AC cooling problem, and My transmission is jumping between 20 and 40 miles and hour, The car has a little over 50,000 miles, Very well mainted by Kia Standards, And is parked ever summer in a warehouse while I enjoy my convertiable in the summer. Also my gas mileage is only averaging about 24 miles ot the gallon, which is about 10 miles less then went I first bought it. We also have a 2008 Spectra 5, That had a AC leak this summer, Went through a big hassle to get the repair paid for and still have not been reimbursed for the freon from the first time it was taken in for service. I do not understand why one of the main reason we purchased both of our Kia's was for this Outstanding warranty and anytime there is a problem it is a HASSLE to get the repair approved through Kia? I am cringing at what may happen this Wednesday after they look at my vehicle and determine the problem's. I asked if they had a loaner program since this is My work vehicle and they said that Kia only approves certain situations for loaners??!! UNBELIEVABLE!! We are in litigation with the Taylor Kia in Toledo, OHIO, due to a warranty we purchased with our 2008 Spectra that they denied we had, Even though our paperwork states we paid 1600.00 for!! So know we can no longer have our vehicles serviced at the closet location we live, and know I am driving 2 hours to another dealer to have this current repair worked on. I am hoping someone can tell me that what we have been through is not the norm, and other people are getting treated, and have more sound vehicles then what we are experiencing! Please shed some light! Thanks!

Hello All,

I have a 2004 Kia Rio Cinco that I use to commute to work. The commute is about 90% highway driving. I get 30-32 mpg. If I upgrade to a newer Rio can I expect about the same mileage numbers? What other Kia models deliver the same or better numbers?

Thanks,

Tom
