This is going to sound weird but ever since I got my Rondo in August I've had this feeling it leaned slighty to the left, whether I'm alone or whether there are four of us in the car...sure enough when I look at it from the back when it's parked it seems to be very slightly tilted to the left...not sure a driver would be able to sense that though. I'm wondering if the dashboard design doesn't come into play too.

Now of course I look at cars in front of me and many seem to be slightly "tilted".

Anyway, has anyone ever had that feeling with their rondo.

In the last couple of weeks, some kind of a burning smell can be felt in the cabin at some times. Yesterday, during the wait at the traffic light, for the first time I actually saw a bit of smoke coming under the hood so I pulled over and saw a bit of light smoke coming somewhere around the water-cooler tank. Initially, I thought that the coolant is evaporating somewhere but the tank was not hot. Anyway, I proceeded home, opened up the hood again and there was no smoke or smell. This happens (smell) maybe every couple of days, the engine is working perfectly, no overheating or anything else.
I plan to visit the garage next week, but this just puzzles me.
The car is 2007 Carens, 2.0 CRDi, 68.000 km and no problems at all until this...
Thanks...

PS. I attach the pic of the spot (roughly) where I saw the smoke coming out...

I have been reading repair manual for Rondo.
I came across a section describing how to custom ACTIVATE auto-lock (door) system under different circumstances.
Also, there was a section talking about chime if parking brake is set.

Has anyone heard anything like that?

I attached few pages describing the auto-door-lock system.

I would really appreciate if people working for dealers took their time and check it for me. If this is truth - I want to have the functions active.

After reading several posts here about noisy a/c compressors, and also experiencing the issue myself, at 65, 650 miles, the compressor on my '08 EX 7 seater went out. After choking out $1,132.00 to have it replaced at the dealer, and after realizing that I was a mere five thousand plus miles past the warranty, I am advising any and all who are experiencing anything noisy under the hood...while you're below 60,000 miles...to have it checked immediately. I'm sure I could have had it repaired for less. But, it never fails with these sorts of things...I was in a bind, in a hurry, and about to leave on an extended trip. It had to be done!

It has just developed a serious judder which can be felt through the steering wheel and the seats and a tapping noise comes from the engine. Also when braking the front of the car seems to drift to the right as if it is "floating".This fault is intermittant. Any suggestions please?

Well, I just crossed 32,000 miles, so I figured I'd do a trans fluid change. I normally only do the half change (drop what's in the pan and refill). Job was uneventful. It actually took longer to take these pics and post them. Drain plug, before and after. I saw no reason to get into the whole "which fluid should I use" debate. I just went to the dealer and bought the Hyundai / Kia SPIII. The most I could have saved on 5 quarts was $12.95 total anyway, so it wasn't worth the worry. Less than $9 per year to not have to worry about them denying a claim. ;)

I'm looking for any recommendations on brake pads. I have reached 60,000 miles on the OEM pads! The Rondo has started to shake when braking, I suspect it is from warped rotors from Autobahn driving (I'm stationed in Germany). That said, what type would you recommend for good high speed stopping. I'll probably get them from Rock Auto or Tire Rack since they ship overseas. Ceramic? Beck/Arnley OEM (doesn't state the composition)?

Appreciate your feedback.

Hi folks,
here is a problem...

I did not quite notice that before since the HID was not as good as it should.
Now, when I modified the lamps (HID bulbs) and got the "hot spot" back, I noticed that the left lamp is pointing too much to the left (from driver point of view).

How can I adjust it?

To elaborate - when I get close to any wall, I would see the two hot spots in the front of the projectors. While backing up I see the left one is drifting to the left, while the right stays in its position.

To add more - I tried a little bit with the screw which supposedly moves the light left/right, but after few turns there was no change, while the other one (up/down) half turn moves the cut off line a lot.

Of course I checked KGIS, manual... and they do not mention the other screw at all.

Any help?

Hi,

Hi,
I am a frequent reader of this forum, but this is my first post. Let me introduce myself and my Rondo. I live in southern California USA. We purchased Ronda the Rondo, as we call our Rondo, several months ago. It is an LX V6 and a former rental car. Ronda had a fair amount of miles and use before we got her, but she was clean and well maintained. I had thought about a new one, but Rondo prices were not being discounted much then and for some reason only 4 cylinder ones were on the dealer lots. I wanted the extra power of the V6 and the highway ecomomy of the 5 speed automatic transmission. So we bought the used one with the idea to buy a new Rondo down the road if we liked this one.

Why the Rondo? The primary driver of the Rondo is my wife. She wanted an SUV or a crossover vehicle. One of her primary concerns was visability and manuverablility. The high seating position, the ample glass area, and the short length of the Rondo fit the bill. Plus, when we test drove it, it was a far nicer vehicle to drive and ride in than the Sportage or the CRV Honda, and it was much roomier inside.

Overall after several thousand miles we have no major complaints. But we have had some of the issues discussed in this forum. Strut noise, front end shimmy at certain speeds, interior fabric that easily stains, and a noisy AC compressor. My mechanic took care of the strut and shimmy problems. Seat covers take care of the seats, and I suppose I'll have to go to a Kia dealer about the AC noise before the warrenty runs out. I'm not looking forward to that.

I'd like to mention that this forum has been very informative and helpful.
