I can't seem to find a good picture of the transaxle drain plug for my 05' Sportage EX. I had a picture from under my Sportage but I couldn't get it to to attached to this thread. The plug is on the left (drivers side) just over a cross member, which has a cut out for the plug. I don't want to open the can of worms about what type of fluid to use (car is past warranty) all I want to do is a drain & fill. If this is the drain plug, does it come out all the way so I don't make a mess?
Thanks in advance.

Just registered literally 2 minutes ago. Have been browsing these forums for the last year though, getting much needed help by just reading some of the topics posted.

I felt as if it was time to register so boom here I am. Now for my question.
I have a 1999 Sportage, I had it inspected a year ago and it passed no issues. Well this past weekend I went to do the brakes and what do I see? anything with a ball joint is completely destroyed. It looks as if I hit a jump going 70 and every ball joint collapsed.

I ordered upper control arms, lower ball joints, inner tie rod ends, 2 sway bar links, 2 outer tie rod ends, and an idler arm. cost me an arm and a leg but I love this little truck. What tools besides a joint pulling kit will I need to complete the job? I have enough PB blaster to drown in, basic socket sets etc and a few hammers. A list would be great and much appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a 2004 Kia Sorrento and ever since I bought the car about a year ago the 4x4 low light has been on. It isn't always on but comes and goes. My husband is driving it right now for work in Montana and it has come on again as well as the check engine light. The last time either one came on was during the winter when it gets really cold but hasn't been on for a few months. I don't know the exact code it is throwing right now but the last time it happened it was showing the p0700. Can anyone give us an idea of what could be causing the problem and if there is an easy fix that he can do in the parking lot of a hotel :) since that is where he is staying. Or do you think we will need to take it in to get fixed? I have noticed that when the 4x4 low light comes on it does drive a little rougher and seems like it is kinda in 4 wheel drive but not completely. My husband told me today that this morning when he was driving it and the 4x4 light was on that it was kinda making a clunking sound. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ok guys, so I've taken my Sorento in several times for the "Pull to the right" issue that many people have, and last week I was told that there is now a Camber Kit available to fix the problem. It was installed yesterday and I've since put about 60 miles on it which were smooth and straight.

The part number is:
#KI6161036 [Camber Kit] Qty: 2

This was (obviously) all covered under warranty, good luck to everyone else :)

Hey folks,

I have an '01 manual rio with about 130k on it.
It recently started making a metal rattling noise when turning left / the car is putting more weight on the right side. Almost sounds like the noise a slinky makes from inside the cab, but louder. It seems to fluctuate ever so slightly with speed, but overall sounds constant in speed of sound and volume.
I've just recently replaced the CV joints, and have read various responses to this type of question, ranging from bearings to dust guard to steering fluid.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Andrew

I'm here at the dealership for my first oil change and the mechanic tells me they use 5W20 non synthetic Petro Canada oil

I was surprised because the recommended oil change interval is 8000km (4800 miles). I was under the impression that they'd be using synthetic becausE of this long interval

My question is this. Would it be better to do the oil change more often? Say the standard 5000-6000km?

The mechanic here assured me that if the factory says its ok then it's ok.

Any thought?

Hello Everyone,

I am interested in replacing the stock radio in my wife's 07 Rio LX with a aftermarket GPS unit with Bluetooth (her new job requires her to drive to clients and talk on the phone a lot).

Has anyone here done that with their Rios before? Is it a simple diy job? Any good suggestions on brands for the unit?

I've been browsing some Chinese units that look halfway decent and cost under $300, but I am skeptical.

Something like this:
WITSON kia rio gps products, buy WITSON kia rio gps products from alibaba.com
Thanks for your input guys.
