Hi does anyone know how to check what kind of motor I may have if it is non-interference or not? I think I may have broke timing belt/chain and i know if it is non-interference i may not have done internal damage so how do i check to see what i have?

Lift the head off the engine and visually inspect the valves and piston surfaces.. What engine is it.

the 95-02 sportage engines are not an interference engine so if the timing belt breaks just put a new one on and away you go

What a surprise, my parent's sportage has 160000 miles on the same timing belt (non-interference engine). However, my rio with an interference engine destroyed itself. Kia had good customers until they screwed me over. They are scammers.
