I am trying to get ideas to change the look of my center wheel caps . I took one of the caps off and examined it. It consists of two parts.

1. Plastic cap that has the plastic clasps extruding from the back
2. A sheet of thin metal (the emblem is on this) that is glued or adhered to the plastic cap

The cap comes off the rim relatively easy with a couple of flat headed screw drivers, but i had to use extreme caution since the metal sheet bends and scratches very easily. The metal sheet itself i have not seperated from the cap as i have not figured out exactly how i'm going to mod it.

My friend suggested that i buy acrylic spray paint (in my case black because that's the color i want) and some acrylic clear gloss spray paint to seal it. This sounds like a great idea.

I really want to know if anyone out there has tried something like this or has found another way to make their center caps lose the emblem. any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Check this link out. Go about half way down the page and you should see some info on it. This other person used some sort of dip to color his center caps. I would use a spray though. It will prolly come out better.
