Okay, I'm very far from stupid, unless it involves cars, so I need some advice/help. The plastic all around the car, like the bumpers and trim, how do you paint those? Mine has become faded and looks like crap and I'd Like to just touch it up with some black paint, my instinct is spray paint, but I'd hate to screw up.

If you are selling the car, just use paint from a spray can...but if you want a decent job, there are special undercoats needed because usually, ordinary paint doesn't stick to the plastic surface very well.
So you need the "special" undercoat as well as a specific paint for plastic surfaces.
Clean the surfaces very well, read the instructions on the can and follow them exactly and all should work out well.
Be carefull...if you paint just the bumpers (for example) it may make the rest of the black plastic on the car look really bad!
Good luck.

Dont use spray paint on the exterior. It will not stay on there long at all......
There is no "special undercoat" when you paint. its primer you use.. first off you cant paint over paint.. It must be sanded with a rough paper then gone back over with like a 2000 grit paper to make it smooth. then prime it and then paint it then clear coat it.
And dont use spray paint. there is a difference from automotive exterior paint and spray paint....
also if you plan on doing this yourself make sure its at least 70 degrees outside or the paint will crack while drying.
