Default P0016 code, rough idle

The car is a 2007 Kia Spectra SX 2.0 automatic with 136k on the clock.

This code came up the other morning when my father went to work, but it still drives fine and all. Just has a rough idle. Oh, I also remember some code came up that said it was over advanced, that only showed up once and it hasn't came back up after I deleted it, just the P0016 code still.

I changed the timing belt (it was due), tensenior, water pump, and spark plugs. My father figured the belt might of slipped a tooth(before replacement) which caused the code to throw so when he got home, he asked me if I could go ahead and replace all the above sooner instead of in a week. Now that it's all changed, the code still pops up and it idles rough.

I even took it back apart some to where I could see the timing mark on the crank gear itself just to triple check the timing. Timing is dead on, I figured that it could of been off a tooth because when I changed the belt, I used the mark method and I marked both belts the same amount of teeth and put marks on the crank and cam gear too, but nope, the timing is dead on.

With some googling I found a Kia service bulletin about the OCV valve. This valve causes the rough idle, over advance and some other symptoms. I tested the resistance and it read proper. It then says to test to see if it opens and closes by applying 12v for less then 5 seconds. I'm not sure which of the 2 pins on the valve is 12v+ and negative so I haven't been able to test that.

Ah thanks, sorry about that. I was in a rush to post the thread. I posted it in the general area first by accident.

Weird thing is I removed the sensor, put it back in, and the car idles smooth now and the code hasn't popped back up.
