Kia Spectra5 in the winter

I have a 2006 Kia Spectra5, a few weeks ago I went up to northern Ontario from Cincinnati. The temperature in Cincinnati was 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit, when I left and when I arrived in Barrie, Ontario (1 hour north of Toronto) to stay the night, the temperature was 20-25 degrees. When I woke up the following morning I noticed that my front side mirror was cracked right down the middle. It appears that the temperature change was the culprit. Has anybody experienced this sort of cracking before?

I'm curious... does your car have heated mirrors?

No, my side mirrors do not have heaters.

I thought the 5's had heated mirrors, even though there is no mention on the mirrors or controls.

I don't think any spectras have this option up to the 07s.

This is my second winter in Northeast. Mirror cracking should not occur. Did you check to make sure that the mirror wasn't moved or hinged backward slightly indicating that someone accidentally hit it?

Yes, that was my first thought when I saw it cracked. Everything looks and operates as normal. The crack is also clean, there are no chips or anything. The only logical conclusion is that the large temperature change adversely affected my Spectra5.

my o6 specta5 has heated mirrors thay dont have much use here in texas but thay do work

Is there a switch for them? Can't say that I've noticed my mirrors defrosting themselves. I've got an 06 spec5 and park outside in MN where it's a balmy 4 degrees.

My 06 sec5 has heated mirrors, they work when you hit the rear defroster switch.
