Linking Dvd To Vdo Head Unit

Hi
I have a 2004 Sedona with the factory Centurion DVD player and a VDO head unit model CD723X. I would like to connect the DVD player to the stereo to get the sound through it, but don't want to go down the FM Modulator route. Has anyone done this or got any ideas ?

Hey there. I hate to tell you, but the only item that model can control is a CD changer.... I was trying to find some reference to the Centurion DVD player, and I couldn't see any ability to be controlled by a VDO unit. Using the links below, can you let me know which model of Centurion DVD player it looks like? I've never seen the Sedona kit, but if you can point it out I might be able to help.

.... the Centurion info is the most important. If it has the ability to emulate a changer, you might be able to make it work.

Hi Pinchy

The DVD is the model DVA-320S2. This is installed under the driver's seat and is linked to a 7 inch screen installed in the roof. This has an infra red transmitter that transmits to infra red headphones.

There is a headphone socket on the DVD player that I have connected some amplified speakers to to get the sound but this obviously involves some additional speakers and it would be tidier if the sound could go via the stereo.

i used the fm mod. and works good. i see why u dont want that route. even with a cd changer i dont think itll work. if it does tell me i might go with that.

You're stuck with the FM modulator, it won't work as a changer in any way. If you're concerned about sound quality, just make sure it's a GOOD modulator by a reputable company (Clarion, Alpine, Pioneer, etc). The cheap Radio Shack types suck as they are full of noise and sound terrible. I used a Dephi FM mod for my XM radio in my old vehicle, and it sounded pretty good - certainly good enough for watching movies or listening to the radio! Shop around and you'll find a good one that sounds decent, and it won't cost you a fortune to do. Make sure it has at least four frequencies to choose from, any less and you may have problems, especially if you live in a metro area with lots of FM stations.

I've never used any BOSS equipment, so I can't comment on quality.... With FM mods, you get what you pay for though. :-)
