I'm trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with the radio. Maybe someone here can tell me if I describe exactly how it behaves:

It's AM/FM/cassette (but I have one of those little tapes from Radio Shack that you plug a CD player into). When I turn it on the backlighting of the display comes on but the actual display is blank and none of the buttons do anything except the two that modify volume/fading and tuning. Furthermore, all I hear from the radio is dead air and if I pop a tape in nothing happens. Now this in itself wouldn't be so weird, I would just think the radio is completely broken. But when I use the cassette adapter to listen to CDs they play just fine, although there's still nothing on the display. Can anyone tell me why I can play CDs through the cassette adapter and adjust the volume/etc., but not do anything else?
