My climate control has been on since I bought the car, it is fully automatic and does its own thing. My car averages 42mpg around town and 50mpg on the motorway at 70 mpg. The official mpg figures are laboratory produced and can only be used to compare different makes and models of car. They bear no relation to real world mpg. You need to check your consumption over several tanks of fuel using miles and fuel bought to get an average figure. Also the average figure (not the instant one) computed by the car is reasonably accurate. I recon my car is about right if I get 100 miles per quarter tank of fuel. Remember that my car is a facelift, which has a modified engine and six speed gearbox. I have just realised that yours is a 2008 model.
Dear Deeps - interesting how you mention leaving A/C on with cruise control. Would have imagined it to have a detramental effect regarding MPG ???? You say 50mpg at 70 mph.
I drove back to Devon from Glasgow today and barely made 48 mpg AVG for the whole journey - surely the car should do better than that??? - the only way of pushing the mpg up was by slowing to a painful 50 mph - surely I should be getting more >? Miles away from KIA published MPG stats for a long journey. I have to say I was really disappointed as Id bought the Ceed based on the figures for fuel economy
Would really appreciate your advise re. this one. Weather conditions mixed buy mainly dry bearing in mind what the others mentioned before!!!
