Good to know I was looking to change these and the licence plate and turn signal bulbs. I will have to take them out and check what they are before I can order
For the inside and licence plate bulbs I like the light emitted from leds allot better. For the turn signals I find it would complete the super modern look, since the fogs and tails are leds. Plus leds flasher bulbs are allot more visible.
Figured out the map light replacement. To gain access to the bulbs you should pry at the most forward part of the lens. This will release the lens and you can gain access to the bulb.
Lower portion that will release.
Tabs at the rest (top). Prying here may damage the lens.
Base. Showing the position of where the lens release is located.
ok, here is the list of bulbs i haved swapped out from non-led to led:
(be advised, this is for a USA Sportage, outside of there I cant guarantee these will fit your country's Sportage)
license plate bulbs t10 wedge
glove box bulb t10 wedge
back up bulbs 1156
sun visor bulbs 31mm festoon
rear blinker bulbs 1156. these bulbs are brand name Luyed. They have built in resistors so no rapid flash and no error on dashboard. they were truly plug n play. these I bought on Amazon.
front blinker bulbs 1157. these are currently being shipped to me. These also have built in resistors and plug n play. these I bought on SharkRacing.
Received front and rear turn signals leds to replace the regular bulbs, which were supposed to be (load equalizer and error code free).
I installed the front ones wich was a breeze however ? much to my disappointment when I turned on the flashes I got rapid flash and a turn signal error code in the dash.
I'm waiting to hear back from shark racing but it's not looking to good for now.
I will keep you guys posted on the developments.
Here is a link to the leds I ordered for the front turn signals
Keep us posted. I think many of us have purchased this part number as well and have yet to receive them. Do you get the error of the rear signals are stock?
damn. those are the same ones I ordered, I just have not received them yet. maybe they will work with in-line load resistors installed? problem is we need a wiring diagram for that wire loom that serves that whole front light pod.
They tell me that for some reason some cars throw codes and fast flash anyways. That this is not model specific but this truly happens to some cars. I don't buy it, I had the same issue with my audi licence plate bulbs and was told the same thing by another retailer.
They offered to send load resistors but this is exactly what I wanted to solve the problem but honestly this is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by buying these.
my bulbs are stuck in customs at LAX. I will let yall know if they work.
in the meantime, anyone have a shop manual that tells us which wires are for the front blinkers? so I can try installing resistors if these bulbs dont work.
I have a feeling replacing the license plate bulbs with leds will give an error code too. My audi a4 was the same, I had even bought error code free license plate leds which still threw a error code in the dash display. (at the time the retailer had told me the same thing about the license plate leds. Telling me that sometimes 2 identical vehicles will react differently to the bulbs
^ I have changed every bulb to LED. The only ones giving me issues are front blinkers. If you so desire, I can link you to the LED bulbs I bought that worked for me.
i think the non essential bulbs will not trip canbus. why? because you wont cause an accident if your license plate bulbs are out. If your blinkers are out, that is dangerous.
Concerning you question why would the license plate bulbs trip the can bus, sometimes it's cheaper for the manufacturer to have this option on all the bulbs v's only on some. On my audi they sure did throw a code, however I'm happy to hear that they worked out for you. I will be installing the reverse, rear turns and licence plate bulbs this weekend.
Now we just have to figure out how to put 2 load Eq for the front turn signals
Installed error free rear turn signal leds from shark racing and I can confirm they do work fine ( no fast flash or error code). Fronts not working for me absolutely need equalizer. Bonus info : I changed reverse lights to led and they work fine too. Next I will find the wire harness that comes out of the head light and install a load Eq. Got the info on what wires are what from the dealer today, gonna tackle this when I receive load Eq

Unplug wire harness. Strip back factory wire covering. Install wire taps according to 1011555's pic (note:LH side #3 was a red wire). Make sure the through wire on the tap is for the blinker wire NOT the resistor wire.
Mount the resistor to METAL. these things get really hot. re-wrap wire harness. Done.
