Agreed. Or 5000k in a pinch. Anything higher and it looks bad, plus the light is less usable, especially in wet conditions.

matching color but no HID...

If you need caps - get them from dealer (if you ever needed to revert to OEM state so that they do NOT complain about warranty related issues)

And one more thing many people do not know - HID lamps require burn in time which is about 60 minutes.

Hi,

My sporty didin't come with DRLs...
because it is 2012 LX .... (in 2012 only EX & SX models got DRL here in Saudi Arabia !!) where in 2013 ALL models got it !!

1. I had replaced my Low beam to HID... H7... 8000K (Really Awesome)! 8K is The most powerful WHITE (with a slight touch of blue) beam you can get; in my opinion !!

I 've seen the whole range compared in one raw... and i picked up the 8000K to go !

I also turned my Foglights to HID 881... 8000K (More Awesome) WOW I can see sides too !

I kept my High Beam in Halogen; but I replaced them with Halogen H7 8000K White ones.

I can show my HID lit images if anyone likes !

2. Would anyone please help me with the suitable DRL for the sportage ? (which looks similar to original or better)

Thanks for all
Choe

Hi,

The sportage models 2011, 2012 & 2013 are all using H7 bulbs for Low Beam & same for High Beam.... and using 881 for Foglights.

For Twilight bulbs they are 194

As discussed previously, different regions use different low beam bulbs types.

I have seen various types: LED with a projector lens/housing and even a retro-fitted HID kit.

Step 1: Plug in the positive and negative wires of your HID kit, to the positive and negative plastic wire housing of the stock wires.

Step 2: I did this a certain way that you dont really need to do. I screwed in the new HID into the H11 base BEFORE screwing the H11 base (3 small screws...remember?) into the actual headlamp. It was easier for me to align the triangle up for where the screws go in, without losing any.

Step 3: Now that the HID is mounted in the headlamp harness, all we have do to is screw back on the end cap (Righty tighty, lefty loosey... lol) And mount the ballast somewhere. I did just like simplicityand mounted it on top of the fuse panel box just for easy access. However this is only a temporary thing during the "return/exchange" period of the HIDs. After I know they are working 100% I will mount under the fuse box on that metal base you can see in the picture.

Because the ballast location is temporary, I just used velcro to hold the ballast in place. The HIDs came with mounting hardware so in 30 days I will mount it in a more "permanent" but still not intrusive mannor, wanna keep it stock as possible.

I did the same for the other side...

The moment of truth...turn those bad boys on (I bought 6000k and I am very happy with the outcome, although they do show blue more in pictures.

I feel like I missed something but its already 1:30am and my brain is starting to turn to mush and is entering "sleep mode".

Message me or reply with your results/questions...

Big thanks to simplicity for the first write-up, wouldn't have completed without that as a reference.
Great Job! which one of the three kit options available on the page did you buy?? Thanks!

The bulb size for the sportage and most of the kia are h11b, these are quite rare to find and a lot of people will see you a modified h11 that will not fit. Make sure if you gett the size of bulb you need dont put into a halogen casin as it will just annoy other users on the road.

I have ordered my kit from HID Guy Lighting & Performance they fit in the OEM place perfectly and come with a proper gasket. it isnt cheap but this is what i have in my 2013 sportage sx and it works perfectly. when you get it the red wire will clip in to the inside slot and the black one on the outside
