Default Door won't open/broken

Hey all,

Don't know if this is common or not but my rear passenger side door no longer opens. I tried searching for a thread on this but couldn't find anything so I guess this just happened to me only? The other day one of my friends tried to get out with no success. windows work fine but when i tried to pull on the handle, nothing happens. On the other working doors you can hear and feel a slight click when pulling on the handle, which opens the door. With the broken door theres no response.
I will most likely contact the dealer today to set up an appointment for tomorrow. This situation sucks and I hope it won't cost me anything I didnt even abuse it at all.
If you guys have any experiences with this or give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your day.

Why would you think it would cost you anything?

True, it shouldnt. But i wont be able to go to my original dealership since its too far. Thats what im mostly worried about.
I cant imagine how they would get that door to open. i believe that emergency child lock thing can only be reached when the door is open.

well, it`s a 2012 model, so probably warranty should cover if the handle is bad

does it refuse to open from the inside and also the outside door handle?

Yup both sides wont work. To me it seems like some wire snapped or an opening mechanism broke within the door. Im no expert on how car doors work so I really have no idea. best to leave it to the dealership and hope they honor the warranty even though I didnt buy my car from them.

They will honor the warranty no matter which Kia dealership you take it to. In fact there are many non-dealerships that can service warranty work.

If you can't get the door open from the inside or outside, then the Owner's Manual won't be any help and it doesn't sound like the child safety lock. Although it could be, just not functioning properly. Best bet is to get it to a dealer and have them take a look.

have you tried using the key slot in the drivers door to see if it makes any difference (instead of the remote)
