on my last car i changed the front brake pads for the first time at 120.000 klm and they were only half worn . the rears measured to be close to new . is the kia a brake pad eating machine ?

i guess it depends on what quality pad they come with and how you drive really, in searching for pads i found a pair that gives a 12,000 mile warranty, am guessing thats similar to what mine came with...

when I traded in my Rondo and got the Soul at nearly 80,000 km I was still on the original brake pads.

Nyaim819 - 12,000 miles (19,300 km) and needing replacement, depending on the time its possible it maybe a warranty replacement or perhaps partial coverage, have you checked?

Brake pads for cars are always sold in a set of 4 pads because when you change one side you need to change also the other side.

To change Front and Rear you need 2 sets one for front and one for rear.
Before buying the rear check them because rear brakes will last more than the front brakes due to other features of a car.
Also check the make of the pads you are buying as other problems may accoure.
Pads to hard will result in wear and tear of disc and maybe also eccessive squeeking from brakes.
softer pads will result in pads wear quikily
Normaly if i dont go for the original i prefare softer pads so that they will minimise wear on disc.
unfortunately you would not know what type they are before you use them or the manufacturer would tell you.
