Default Bluetooth problem with a difference

Hi All,
I am a new member so forgive me if this thread has already been posted but I have looked and can't find anything.

I own a 3G 2011 Sportage with no SAT NAV and have recently purchased an iPhone 4s. I deleted my old phone from the system and then paired my iPhone 4s with no problems at all. Transfer complete was accomplished and all works fine from a phone point of view and wirelessly streaming my music works great too.

The problem I have is that when it is connected to Bluetooth it mutes the phone speaker so there are no button clicks heard from the phone. This leads onto when I use the Navfree SAT NAV app on my phone, it does not speak the directions to you and you only have the map to go by. If I turn the Bluetooth off then the directions are then said aloud as it should be.

Is this a known problem? We also own a Mercedes with Bluetooth and no SAT NAV and the iphone Navfree app works fine in this car.

Any help or advise would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Saintbsm

It is working as intended. If you flip your radio over to the Media button and BT, you will hear your clicks and the turn by turn from your phone. Problem is that you won't be able to listen to your radio. You can stream or play things from your phone and the turn by turn from your phone will come through. Because the turn by turn from your phone is coming through as the media sound from your phone, it will not interrupt your regular radio play. Only if you get a phone call will it work the other way. So essentially your turn by turn directions are acting like you are playing music from your phone into the radio.

Now, I am not positive that the 2011 stock radio can play music from your phone. Anyone know? The above explanation works for my 2012 UVO radio. I don't think the UVO was available for the 2011. If you can stream music from your phone to the radio, then this is how you get your turn by turn to come through when connected via BT.

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for your answer. I have tried what you suggested and it does work as you say but is not ideal as I would prefer the radio on so that I can receive radio station traffic reports.

This is something that KIA need to look at I feel but thank you again for your comprehensive response.

No problem, glad it works.

I don't think this is fixable. You either get audio from your phone or from your radio. Just like you can't play the radio at the same time as the Satellite radio. I guess anything is possible, but thinking this isn't really workable.
