Default Auto Starter and Bluetooth

Hey!!

So I just had an auto starter installed to my Sportage and love it!!!

I have noticed that whenever I start it via the auto starter and I get in 10 or 15 minutes later my phone doesn't automatically connect to the bluetooth. When i look at the display the Bluetooth symbol isn't on either. I have to manually go and turn the bluetooth on.

Does anyone else have an auto starter and notice or have this problem?

Interesting.... i have read a couple people having issues with it sometimes connecting (android / iphones) but i haven't had that issue. Everytime i get in the vehicle it connects immediately. But since the auto starter....it doesn't connect when i get in after 15 or 20 minutes.

I don't know if there is a Bluetooth signal that searches as soon as the car is started and after a period of time it stops searching hence when I get in after a while it doesn't look for my phone.
Going to see if find some info on it...

I believe the bluetooth in the Sportage only searches for devices when it is first turned on. You may be able to get it to sync by turning the radio power off then back on, worth a shot at least.

Once in a while mine does not connect either and turning the radio off and on does not resolve it. Turning the car off does and once I tried turning the BT off on my phone and back on which worked, but I haven't done this enough to say for sure it works all the time. Kind of hoping there will be a new UVO update soon... I have the latest one, but once in a while a strange issue like this pops up.

With the issue of the BT disconnecting, how old is your phone that you are connecting to? Could be a strange incompatibility. Do you have the Nav system or the UVO system?

I believe this is correct. I use an android app that "forces" the connect. It's called "Bluetooth Widget", which does what it says. One press and the phone and car connect.

Otherwise, if you have the UVO system, you can go into the phone settings and do the connect there, but it takes several steps.

All very good inputs!!!

I did some testing and it seems that when you start the vehicle it searches for the bluetooth by default. Now when i start it with the auto starter it also searches for the bluetooth device (iPhone) but if i am not in the car within 3-5 minutes (thats my guess) it just turns the bluetooth off.

If i get to the car before then it will connect just as if i started it with the key.

Will check and see if there is a "bluetooth app" to force the car and phone to start rather than have to turn OFF and ON the bluetooth all the time in the Sportage.

Will play around with some different options and see what I come up with.

@ SlovaKIA The starter is great!!! I have one in my Jeep and I knew I had to get one for the Sportage. The same guy that installed my fog lights installed the starter. The brand the Kia Dealership is using is called AutoMate but I am sure you can install anyone you want if you do your own research.

My Bluetooth autoconnect doesn't.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S which use to connect automatically, but lately it will not do so for at least 2/3 mins, and sometimes not at all.
My wife has a Galaxy S 11, which connects almost immediately, and as hers is the priority phone that means mine cannot connect.

Now its clear and excepted that when there are 2 phones on the system the one that is the priority will connect,
But when it is only me in the car, I usually have to go to setup and connect up that way, which in it self is not a hassle, it is just that these things are supposed to work and when they don't, I get the sh!ts.

I also have that Bluetooth Widget which works great, but does not seem to help with the connecting
