I finally received mine today (the dealer couldn't put in a single order so I had to wait for others) and installed it today, despite the chilly weather. It's not as svelte as the antenna on the Hyundai Sonata but that would too expensive and the installation would be much more involved. Colour match was spot-on. I did the "hair dryer thing" as well as thoroughly cleaned the surface with some Varsol.

Default great for you

it's not small or svelte like you say
but I kinda like the chuby size
to me it seems like it fits the car line and overall design very well

went at the car wash the other day
those big rolling cloth didn't do anything to it, so it's strong adhesive
but the car wash swallowed my rubber hitch cap lol

So, does it stick over the existing base? Or you must remove the existing base? I'm asking because when I replace the antenna on my VW, I had to remove the headliner.

It is placed over the existing base, nothing to remove except the antenna mast.

Bluntman: I think you said you had a "stubby" antenna replacement prior that simply screws in to the antenna base like the OEM...just, well, shorter & stubbier? ;-)

Where could one find that stubby antenna? I don't think the shark fin looks bad, it's just not for me. I actually like the stock antenna on this car. But, I'd like a shorter one even better!

I did a google search and found like 10000 but not sure if the thread pattern will match etc.

Thx...

The thread pattern for a Japanese vehicle is the same as that on the Sportage, I previously used this stubby on my Mazda3; if I remember correctly I bought this on eBay.

I just rechecked the size of the stubby, it's 3.5" long and that leaves less than 1/4" clearance from the tip of the stubby to the spoiler when the tail gate is up.

Yes, dont go over 3.5" on the antenna if you have an aftermarket spoiler. Ebay has alot of them and usually a universal antenna will work as they have different tips that should fit the sportage base antenna.

LED (Interior, back up, license plate), 5k lows HIDs, 6k halogen highs, 3k fogs, chrome/amber turn signals, euro running boards, factory painted spoiler, Rebadged, clear rear turn signals, Fiamm horns, husky floormats, window visors, shark fin antenna.

Thank you both. I have the standard spoiler so should be ok. I'll take a look on eBay. Getting something a bit shorter would be nice. Again, I like the OEM antenna mast, but a shorter one would look a bit nicer I assume.
