I was just curious if any of the 2011 Sportage owners looked at the 2011 Sorento during the buying process. I looked at both and really loved the Sportage but was a little stubborn and went with the FWD / I4 Sorento. I do love the vehicle, but I kind of kick myself a little on passing on the AWD Sportage.
I'm 6'1 and appreciated the extra space in the Sorento. My wife loved the Sportage, and I'm sure I could have lived with the smaller cargo area. The cabin felt roomy enough in the Sportage. Anyway, I love the new Sportage too and was just curious if anyone went back and forth between Sorento or Sportage.

Our sportage is the wifes DD. I had input, but it was ultimately her decision. She also test drove, the RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe, Nissan Rogue, and Subaru Forrester.
She and I both liked the Sportage the most. The features you get for the money the others couldn't compete. She's 5" tall, and I'm 6'2" we're both very comfortable in the Sportage.
The only complain I have so far is the lack of body side mouldings...already have a door ding on it.
Looks like you've bought yourself a Sorento... I guess you must be a little bit regret. Well, for me, I just fall in love with the Sportage at first sight. I did tried the Sorento, and still prefer the Sportage. (never look back)
i think the sorento offers more for the money than the sportage . for me it was the slightly better fuel econmy of the sportage and the size . i dont really need a bigger car . if i had a family or had people rideing in my car often the serento would be the way to go
I agree Swanndog. I have 2 young children and a few dogs. I'm the everyday driver. I use to own a Isuzu Trooper years ago and loved it until the engine blew at 62,000 miles. Isuzu had big time issues on the engines and wouldn't cover anything. I like the space with the Sorento, but will always be a Sportage fan too. It's Sorento's little brother and a sweet ride!

The wife saw the 30k plus MSRP and walked away from the Sorento, and straight toward the Sportage The Sorento is a nice vehicle tho, but I learned from my first wife not to argue.
The above comments pretty well sum up my feelings . . .
Looked at the Sorento and dismissed it purely because I didn't NEED the extra size (wife's main stipulation that it had to fit in the garage!!!). A very good package, but just more bulk than we needed/wanted.
Looked seriously at pretty much ALL SUVs on offer in Australia from all manufacturers. Initially only looked at Kia because a friend had bought a run-out of the old Sportage. I was impressed even with that and went and had a look and instantly dismissed all other would-be contenders.
Size, price, features and price ticked all the boxes and I am now a happy owner of a Sportage 2.0 diesel automatic. Wife loves it (comfortable!) and my only complaint is all the time I wasted looking at the others.

Well, if the car is for her mostly, then you should go with her instinct.
