Use the Microsoft Office "save as" command and use ".doc" instead of the default ".docx" extension then things sould be OK...
I use "Libra Office" a FREE MS work alike "office" it's default is ".oog" but it can save them as ".doc" or ".docx" so others can read my "generic" MS Office files..

.doc is a "standard" that almost anyone anywhere can read. MS likes changing standards when the think a "new" one is better BUT the option to "save as" can bring the old standards back...

Thanks but there is a max filesize of 19kb for doc files anyways. That's way too small for the file.
