Just got my Kia card

Haven't been through the fine print yet (need to get to work), but it's a pre-paid Visa debit ($195.14 for me) that's good through 11/30/2013. NOT GOOD AT ATMs OR GAS PUMPS. I'll go through it more thoroughly once I get to work. It's good for point of sales, and physically handing it to a store cashier for fuel purchases. Didn't see anythng about "refreshing" yet. Edit: Along with Kia's "Here's your card, we're sorry" letter, comes the typical info that comes with any other credit/debit card...terms and conditions, definitions, use, returns/refunds, blah blah blah. Again, it stipulates in bold that it can't be used at ATMs or gas pumps. Point of sale where a keypad is present, you punch "credit" (not debit, 'cuz there's no PIN) and sign the recepit. No keypad, just hand it to the cashier & sign receipt. It can be used for mail order as well. Again, nothing about refreshing. (Note: back of card says "Non-reloadable". Hm) Activation should be simple...unless you're underground with sh*tty cell reception. Finally got it done, so it's off to that website to find out more.

Went to the website above...you punch in your card's 16-digit #, then the tracking # on back of card...you get your card's history, you can change your contact info, and read a crappy FAQ that says nothing about refreshing this thing. I reckon we'll have to go back to the dealer to go through this every time it runs out. Oh, joy.

The card looks like any other card, with the amount stamped below your name. Pretty metalflake silver with a Kia logo in black. Spiffy.

how Many miles on the car?

Yeah, they charge $6.95 if you lose/destroy it & need to replace it. Also, international fees, too. 3.5% of transaction if approved, 75 cents if declined.

Ecobox: my letter had my mileage (as taken by the dealer) as 26,602, on 11/12/2012

Edit: Well, it works...stopped by the grocery store tonight and went through the self-checkout line. Punched "Credit" & zoop zoop zoop...it spat out a receipt & sent me on my way.

I find it hilarious and disappointing that a rebate program based on giving you money back for fuel, CAN'T be used on freaking fuel.

Quite honestly -- I'd have loved to be given the option of just getting a check. That way I don't have to keep track of some temporary card and "how much I have left on it".

I should be getting 87 dollars on my card here in a few days hopefully.

This, combined with the fact at 11K miles I've already needed a new engine, and then a few days after that issue, the fuel line straight falls off.... crap. I can tell Kia is trying, but they aren't succeeding that well.

You can. You can use it for anything. You just can't hit up an ATM/gas pump or get cash back. Go in, hand the cashier your card, & sign the receipt. I just came back from the farmer's market, and used it there. I'm going to use it tomorrow to buy my grandsons' xmas presents. (BTW...at the farmer's market, I just swiped it. Didn't have to sign. It just accepted it & said, "thanks, dude".)

+27,000 miles on my LX, and it still runs like new. Just sayin'.

I got mine yesterday. Going Christmas shopping tomorrow.

In another thread someone posted an email that they got from Kia stating that the card is renewable for 5 years. I was under the impression that it was to be for as long as you owner the car. Am I mistaken?
