I love how in the letter they say that they are trying to make the process as easy and seamless as possible for us...

the following steps don't seem easy and seamless to me:
1) go to dealer to verify mileage
2) wait for 2 months for card to arrive
3) call toll free number to register card
4) call another toll free number because first number says it is too busy to process your request
5) sign card
6) go to myrbcprepaid.com to register card
7) no matter what numbers I use to fill out the registration, it doesn't work
8) use card, but not too much because you can't spend over your balance and just cover the remainder with another payment method
9) memorize your balance so you know how much to get the cashier to ring in to zero out your card
10) repeat this all over again for the rest of the life of your car

I can think of an easier method
1) go to dealer to verify mileage
2) mail me a cheque
3) deposit the cheque

I'm not saying that i'm not happy to have the cash, i really am, and i appreciate kia doing this, but i really think that if they put their heads together, they could have come up with a somewhat "easier and convenient process". no doubt they figure if they get us to jump through enough hoops, most people just won't bother for long, and i'm sure that with a program like this, VISA is giving them a hefty kickback.

just checked and they are having problems with the www.myrbcprepaid.com site, so its automatically registered when you activate it, so its not required.
So you can eliminate steps 6 and 7 from the above list.

You didn't go into too much detail with the cheque process like the card

1) go to dealer to verify mileage
2) wait for cheque to arrive in the mail
3) drive to bank to deposit cheque
4) try to find a place to park
5) wait in line at the machine or teller
6) try to find a deposit envelope
7) sign the cheque
8) deposit the cheque
9) drive back home again
10) repeat this all over again for the rest of the life of your car

Ours came yesterday, too. Took 3-4 weeks from when I went into the dealer.

I agree that they should have just sent out a cheque. I'll probably try to use it for gas and try to nail the exact amount on the pump so I can have it spent and done with.

They don't send you a check because they are hoping you will either forget about the card (or forget to use some partial amount on it) and because the card issuer is probably giving them some sort of incentive for using their company in the form of a percentage of total dollars used or something similar.

I'd much rather have a check, zero hassles and I don't have to stick another card in my wallet.
