So should I complain that my car does not drink enough?
Yes, yes you should. (dumb answer to a dumb question)
We all know that driving style affects mileage. However you shouldn't have to baby a car to get close to the stated mileage. I drive my car. I don't drive it hard and I don't feather the pedal either. I just drive like I have every other car for the last 35 years. My mileage has gotten WORSE since new. I was getting 8 - 9 L/100km combined (but mostly city) when new, and now am regularly getting 10 - 11 L/100km. My driving style HASN'T CHANGED. Same driver, same car, same conditions, worsening mileage.
I love my Rio. But one of my major purchase decision factors was fuel economy. I knew I wouldn't get the stated mileage, but I'm not even in the same ballpark at this point.
And for the record....I HAVE tried driving like a granny using ECO mode and still don't achieve the rated mileage.

Winter gas could explain it - yes, even for Surrey. Less energy per liter for the winter blend.
All I know is that I'm getting way better mileage than I did in my Subaru WRX Wagon, avg'ed 20.5 per gallon in that thing. My Rio5 has averaged 32mpg so far.

My own experience: you HAVE to baby this car to get close to the stated mileage. That's what I did this summer: feather foot, grandma driving style and all and I did get better mileage. Zero driving fun. Forget about following the traffic. Forget about the center lane. Stay in right. Don't drive over 90km/h. Don't use AC, don't even think about opening the windows and don't dare touching the sunroof button. But then you get interesting mileage. Marleyfan you said it: baby this car. I add: drive like a grand grandma and the numbers are there. Kia is right. If you like that kind of driving...

BTW, the reason I posted my stats is as context for my question. How many liters are you filling up every time? In my case, I fill up on average 35 L. Therefore, my distance is based on that many L's, not over the full tank.

@Rosscofat, I assume your comment it to the OP. If it is directed to me, I don't sweat it at all. I am having a great time driving my car and customizing it. The stats are driven by my analytical half and good information for enquiring minds.
