It's as though the revs are falling away artificially, when they shouldn't, just as the clutch bites. Makes you look like a moron. It was 43deg C today, or 110F and it's a total dog when it's hotter. Ironically gets better when the sun goes down, regardless of whether the ambient temp has changed! Makes no sense at all.

We also have the lag between changes from time to time, and it sometimes takes off in a accelerate..jerk..accelerate..jerk..accelerate..je rk type of way as well. Ours has ALWAYS has a sensitive throttle when putting around or coming off the throttle at low speed. You CANNOT drive it smoothly in first unless you keep de-clutching.

It's sending me mad trying to work out the root of the problem but it sounds like it ties into this issue.

Issue is way worse when hotter, and with aircon blasting. It's load dependent. I can sense when it's going to drop the revs off now and adjust by pushing the throttle another cm-ish and sometimes makes it very smooth, but it's very hard to catch.
The sun going down bit, all NA cars are at their peak during the first few hours of night time. The outside air gets denser and compresses as it starts to cool giving our engines optimum air supply for better ignition. Its basically a free intercooler for NA engines. It dont last forever though, when you get closer to first light hours the air starts to heat up and expand from light.

Its the Cinderella Effect.

yeah i know mate i used to be in the drag racing scene a while ago, but what i'm saying is it happens basically as soon as the sun disappears, when the ambient is still exactly the same. Actually with our weird weather sometimes the ambient goes UP a little when the sun goes down lol. But sometimes it's a total dog on a much colder day as well, where it should be running at it's optimum. The thing drives me nuts. It's a real shame because it's tarnishing the experience of what is otherwise a fantastic fun car to drive.

You could try this:

TWM Performance; Pedal Box Throttle Controller

If that was cheaper I would try it. $299 is too much to take a gamble on for a device I've never heard of.

Already ordered one to test out. Already been putting Veloster parts on the Kia so this would be nothing new.

And if it works???

Please update us once you get it. If it really makes a noticeable difference it just might be worth it.

Have the pedal box and done the test fits... We will have to wait until they come up with a connection one of the following cars:

-Veloster
-Optima
-Accent 2012+
-Rio 2013+ (ours is classed as a MY13 model, the MY12 is the previous gen which is still on sale)
-K3/Cerrato/Forte 2014+

Just checked their site and they do have them for the Veloster. They didnt a couple weeks back so will see in new year if I can get the Veloster one sent down and find some use for the one that I have.

The one they have for the Rio listed on their site is for the Gen 2 Rio's and now our Gen 3 Rio's

update: ran the car a month with the clutch switch connected, and the mpg has consistantly dropped 4-5 mpg. has to be caused by winter fuel.

i am going to retest pulling the switch, as i want to see how the car reacts in snow storms. it if difficult to pitch the car and change direction, perhaps with the clutch switch disabled it will bring back more control to the driver.

took a pic a month ago with the dash lights lit up like a christmas tree...
