Question Swishing Water Sound Under Dash

OK Guys - I know there are a lot more important things being brought up on this forum but I do have another nagging problem with my ISG Rio5 Automatic that I would like some opinions on:

After driving for about 5 miles on the highway I will get a swishing water sound from below my passenger side dash when I come to a stop. There is no noise when cruising past 30MPH, but it may be getting masked by road noise.

Everything I'm reading on the Internet points to air pockets in the cooling system - in this case the heater core. I brought my car into the dealer to have the cooling system "burped" and was told that I was exaggerating the noise and I shouldn't be bothered by it! They told me that KIA would not pay for this service unless the noise got worse. This noise is driving me insane.

Has this type of problem ever happened to you?

Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Should I just do the procedure laid out in the Tech Manual on KGIS? The car is only 6 weeks old and I would think KIA should be responsible for this...

I have noticed a swishing sound as well but only when raining and I have no idea where it's coming from. (and no not a water hitting the car sound.)

The slotted cowling between the windshield and the hood is actually there for a drain and for fresh air. On the passenger (right side) there is a tray under the dash that catches condensation from the AC evaporator. Each of these trays have a drain. A clogged drain could cause the swishing. A clogged AC tray usually spills water on the carpet.

I have the same noise at the same place intermittently. Talked to useless dealer and same pathetic answer not to worry..

I wonder what kind of training these dealers get to deal with warranty related problems..

Never admitting and no serious effort to try to diagnose problem. Same copybook sentences to get away with it

I have three genuine problems (excluding this water noise) since I took the delivery in April and despite my multiple trips no fruitful outcome yet.

Totally disappointed by KIA customer handling and planning to log an official complain.

I too am getting the same sound, loud enough to hear over the radio sometimes. Going to get it checked on my next schedule oil change.

Same thing over here, I wait to my next schedule. I had the same problem on my Acura CSX, so it's not only Kia...

I can't locate your original post. Was it in the G3 Rio Forum? Did you get any responses?

I see enough interest here that I would be glad to write a letter to KIA and address this issue with them. I could write a draft, then email it to all forum members who have this problem for review. I would then send the final copy to KIA.

This is probably on their KGIS dealer site and not the consumer version. Although my dealer is totally clueless/helpless...

My original post was on June 4-12.Sorry, time goes by so fast as you get older-thought it was a few weeks ago. Sounds like you have a great idea about the letter-I'm on board with this.
