Please feel free to close this thread as nothing positive has come out of it. As the OP I was not intentionally trying to upset anyone. I was just stating a fact that replacement (K) badges for KIA's are a popular item. The actual reason why is anybody's guess, but I would think KIA would be concerned and convert to a less "in your face" font and style. IMHO a "K" is perfect.

I had no idea of the amount of grief this would cause...

Do you think the other road users have to time and inclination to single out cars with "Kia" badges. Of course they don't, they are scum and drive like that regardless of the brand of the other car. How close do they have to get to read what it says on the badge, if Kia "haters" really exist its the shape they react too.

My other car is a BMW and I find that I get treated no different whichever car I drive.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely some other things to consider (sub compact, new car envy etc).

Maybe it's just a really bad month for idiots too.

I'd have to agree with this statement, ESPECIALLY because I'm a P-plater, which makes me even more prone to being intimidated in my little Kia, especially with the raft of tradies in their huge Hiluxes with chunky mud tyres and I only get a rear vision mirror full of the Toyota badge...

as far as replacement badges, I'd only rebadge my Kia purely to differentiate mine to other people's Rios, as well as to give it a different look. Nothing about the whole "ashamed to be a Kia driver" thing, society can go stick their opinions about Kia for all I care

Love the after market badges and as far as society goes. I have seen more Kias pop up in my local area than any other car which is crazy. When I talk to some people they sound excited about the different look and take Kia and Hyundai are taking in industry, A refreshing change.

Nothing to be ashamed of and whenever anyone asks what car I drive I proudly say I drive a Kia awwww YEAHH!

Here's the link to the seller. Be sure to let him know when you purchase, whether you have a back up camera or not, because there are two different sizes for the rear emblem depending on whether you have a backup camera or not. I plan to at least de-badge the hood on my 2013 Rio EX. I'm not ashamed of the brand but I think ALL of the car mfgs have gotten WAY out of control with the size of their badges. Sorry KIA, I like subtle. That hood badge is outta control! I think I might be able to live with the trunk badge but I'd rather it went bye bye as well.

Anyway, any car's hood should be clean and smoooth. Put the dang badge in the grill. Anyway, reading the posts sounds like gettin that thing off is gonna be a bear AND no after market, PLAIN paint-matched badge to put in its place. Oh well, for now. Maybe a body shop could make me something slick.
