Thanks for the info Fran9127. I was looking for it inside the car next to the audio unit under the steering wheel where it usually is.

Should be in the car in the usual place (under the steering wheel), depending on where you are located in the world.

It seems like my rio has two obdII ports. One under the hood labeled as "Diagnostics" and one under the steering wheel.

I believe the US Feds regulate the distance from the steering wheel for the OBDII port. So they can jack in quickly and learn all about you.

I'd bet the "diagnostics" port is for a dealership scan tool to connect to and program the car easier than using the OBD-II port.

OBD-II under bonnet would be mainly for servicing.

OBD-II under steering wheel would be mainly for when driving the car. By plugging in a laptop, you can monitor everything about it when you're on the move.
E.G., calibrating boost, gauges, etc.

Correct - some countries only have the Diagnostic connector under the hood, which is completely different to the OBD-II port which is found near the drivers feet inside the cabin.

For service info register (free) with KiaTechInfo and click on 'Shop' on the left, and for elect schematics click on 'ETM'.

Quality and not quantity counts.
