Default UVO Bluetooth Text Message...?

Has anyone had any luck using the "read text" command using bluetooth? In the manual it says that the UVO system will alert you on screen when there is a new text and you can even have it read back to you by voice command. I have attempted this with an Android phone and a Blackberry Bold 9900 and have had no success. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had better luck?

I have tried with iPhone and it doesn't even notify me when I get a new message, let alone give me an option to read it. Voice calls work no problem...

I've contacted Kia Canada about this. I was kind of upset that the one of the main selling features of this UVO system for me does not work for my phone. They were of no help and advised they were sorry but they do not even have a list of compatable phones.

There is a list out there from the US, if you do a search you can find it. Dont just search for Rio UVO, its the same system in all other Kias.

From what I can tell since UVO is a microsoft system, the Windows 7 phones work. But I dont really know for sure since I dont have a Windows phone. Something to do with using bluetooth MAP technology.

Also found this to check if your phone works http://www.kia.com/#/uvo/setup

Haha, both of those sites say the Blackberry Bold 9900 (current phone) doesn't support the SMS feature. However it does say that my old andriod phone (T-Mobile LG G2x) DOES support the SMS feature. I can assure you that this is NOT correct as I was unable to get it to work. I am fairly technologically sound and def do not feel it was operator error. I could not get notification or read back. Other than that all other "hands free" options work great. Guess we'll chalk this one up with the over estimated EPA figures...

Really? it may be a case of activating a setting on the phone. And make sure the sms is turned on on the uvo system as well. Apparently the new HTC one x might work as I've read it works with fords sync and bmws system too.

Ya I know for sure everything was set up for it to work properly. However, the G2x I was using was rooted with a custom ROM on it. So that very well may be the reason. I will try my wife's stock G2x this evening and report back results.

Just FYI - I wanted to hear a song that I didn't have on my phone, so I went to youtube to listen to it. I had my blackberry connected via BT and it was streaming the youtube song, just like if I were listening to Pandora... I thought that was pretty cool, would of been awesome if it streamed the video onto the UVO screen though.

Only a very small list of phones work with this feature, I believe the list is in the UVO manual that came with the car.

I know my HTC HD7 worked like a champ, it was handy to text and drive legally... Then changed to iPhone and poof! No more.

Thumbs down Bluetooth Phone compatibility

You guys are lucky. At least your cellphones work! My 27 month old Samsung SPHR540 phone won't even work @ all with the KIA Bluetooth System. Kia,Samsung & my Provider Telus confirmed it is not compatible. So I have to buy a new phone to use Bluetooth.Kia Canada has no list of phones that will work like the U.S.A. I can't really blame just Kia. All the other Canadian Car Manufacturers don't have lists of phone that are compatible either.Another reason why Factory support is much less helpful in CANADA.

My Nokia 920 works perfectly. Reads the texts and does a good job of taking dictation for a reply.

But I am not liking the phone so much.

Do you guys know if the system is upgradable? UVO 2.0 is on the 2014's. Will an upgrade be available to 2013's?
